I came twice a couple weeks ago within opening hours and travelled quite a distance to check out the shop and both times it was closed. Not very professional like to not even post online that they would be closed during those times unexpectedly. Those times I had a sitter for my children.3rd disappointment is we tried again today to check out the shop.I was planning on spending quite a bit of money. No baby sitter for my 2 year old and 4 year old this time I brought them in and told them to be quite and don't touch nothing. The owner was greeted by US as we came in and he didn't even look up or greet which was rude to begin with after we spoke to him first. I assume the hostility was because we brought 2 kids in. They were quite when we walked in and he was already rude. Both children were being good as far as kids go and not touching anything. My fiance was letting them pick out a few stones to go in my oldest sons crystal box he keeps while I looked at the crystal and stone pendants I have came 3 times to shop for even though they are overpriced. I had quite a few picked out and my youngest son got a bit loud saying there were eyes on one of the stones. He speaks loudly and clearly anytime he speaks. That is just his personality.. Not a yell or scream..just clear. The owner gets loud from the next room over "Inside voice please!" And we hush my son and they are quite as the owner adds on to say "This is not a McDonald's playground." He does this as soon as the other customers walked out the door. I'm sure he was waiting for them to leave so he could say What he wanted to us without others hearing it. What?! They were not being rowdy or playing.. Just asking questions. Talking. Right next to me the entire time and the first time my youngest son speaks at a little over average tone.. he gets smart. That was the worst attitude I have ever encountered with someone at a business place and DEFINETELY the most uncalled for since my children were not doing anything wrong. His rules say no animals but I'm here to let you all know before you visit he is antikid and noise. I put back the 6-7 pendants I had picked out and left. I'd understand if the boys were being rowdy and running or playing etc. This was NOT the case and I will NEVER come back nor recommend this store to anyone. To be a place that is supposed to be welcoming and harmonous I felt a very tense and negative vibe as soon I walked in and I'm sure the kids did too because kids can sense thise things. Not including his lack of friendliness and didn't even have the audactity to acknowledge us when we spoke to him coming in. This really hurt my feelings. And far from what I expected based off the reviews saying he was a friendly guy. Lol. No. He was hostile before we even stepped in the door. Unproffesional and inconsiderate to say the least. I'll take my money elsewhere. Charging double to triple the price of anywhere else anyway. Whatever his problem was today..I hope you get some positive energy your way because you sure need it and NO WHERE has it been posted or known that kids are not allowed in. There is NO excuse to his behavior because before the kids even made a peep he was hostile towards us just bringing them inside. I guess adults aren't allowed to speak inside above a certain decibel either. you can only whisper. No excuse. Rude. Hateful. And as for the response, that is a lie. I explained in detail the situation. The kids were not WHINING nor playing nor touching anything. They were standing next me the entire time. My eldest was asking questions and speaking at a normal tone. The FIRST time my youngest got a little louder saying something about one of the stones you got smart with us.Point blank period you were rude as soon as we walked in and what you did was uncalled for.. Especially when the kids were not playing or screaming ect. You were rude from the get go before anyone even spoke meaning you didn't want the kids in there to begin with. Nor sound obviously. If you don't like dealing with people you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been here several times. The owner is a lot of fun to chat with and very knowledgeable in many different disciplines.
He has got a LOT of different items in the store ... more than most others witchy stores that I have been. His inventory is comparable to what I have found in major cities.
I love getting crystals here. They come cleansed, charged and ready to go. I really love that he has given the places in the Earth where the crystals were taken from a good dose of Reiki. I also like his crystal info sheets. He has a large binder near the crystals with pages for nearly all of the crystals. And, if you buy a crystal he will even give you the info sheet for free! I have been in multiple stores where they charge $0.25 to $1.50 per page to print something like this! Paper and ink cost money.
The prices in his store are far less that most other stores I have been in except perhaps for 2nd hand stores and some online drop shipping stores. Definitely lower than New York City, SF, Denver, Salem, and similar cities. He really should increase the prices on a lot of his items.
I stopped in a few weeks ago and he was helping a person ... he looked up information from multiple sources, typed up information and gave it to them ... other stores charge for this service - he didn't. He spent a good fifteen minutes putting together information for a customer and they only spent a few dollars purchasing items!
The energy in his store is wonderful ... warm, inviting, super positive, high frequency. One visit a few months ago a newbie was in and was overwhelmed by the energy of one of the crystals and thought that it must be negative. I corrected her on that. She was used to think that a spark was a bonfire and when she encountered the equivalent of a bonfire she couldn't handle the energy. There is nothing negative in his store!
I better wrap this up. My work takes me all over the country. This is one of my favorite magical stores to visit. I know he won't mind me mentioning three other stores because he talks about them all the time ... Books, Beans and Candles in Birmingham is a very nice store with great people ... Coyote Moon in Baton Rouge - not a huge place but lots of stuff and wonderful people ... Phoenix and Dragon in Atlanta - BIG store and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThank-you for being a part of our alternative spirituality community in the Greater Montgomery area. You are appreciated. Your prices are NOT "too high." Anyone complaining of this has no real idea how retail works unless they are dealing with a wholesaler. Everything is marked up. Wearing a wedding band or fine jewelry, you will be surprised at the mark-ups. Same goes for clothing and basically everything else. You work for someone else and want to get paid? Be very glad for the marked up items which pay a salary.
As for children, the owner has never been rude to parents or the kids who knew how to behave inside of a store. There are some kids who needed to be reined in. A lot of parents do a horrible job with raising their children. What may not seem loud to them due to these parents being too used to the rowdiness is often inappropriate for public. It is like the barking dog next door whom the owner says is just being a dog and how it is no big deal yet the rest of the neighbourhood gets to hear it at all hours of the day and night.
Phil is a one man operation. Often, he has been busy with a project or in the back unpacking inventory when I come in. There may not be an immediate "hello" as one cannot be in two places at one time. He does come out to greet and acknowledge customers. He also has done a lot of gratuity work such as scanning people who are going through a tough time to see what the core issues are. There have been times the customer could not afford to buy anything yet Phil still did a scan of the person and sat for a long time to talk to a customer who was really going through a rough time.
Mystical Treasures Emporium is awesome. Phil does not tolerate nonsense and no business owner should have to. The Customer Is Always Right is something that needs to fade from the entitlement of many customers. Owning or working with a store does not mean one has to put up with unacceptable behaviour.
Now back to mark-ups, florists mark up their flowers %1200% to 2500% for each stem they sell. Bread has an incredible mark-up. Complaints of merchandise one claims is overpriced: don't buy it, look for it cheaper elsewhere but be prepared to drive or pay postage fees, or pick you own flowers and make...
