Alabama State University — Local services in Montgomery

The Rules and Guidelines set by this school ARE completely outrageous. The housing departments staff needs to be revamped. Starting with the “complimentary” apartments for students who were late getting housed. These places are completely filthy. The assistant Director will not check on students nor has any connection in trying to see if students feel safe. They ARE THERE TO GET A PAY CHECK AND GO HOME! THE STAFFING FROM HOUSING , CAFETERIA , to the JANITORS and (some) teachers revolve around money. So too bad for little “Sarah” that has to be in a roach invested apartment that had nothing to do with her or anybody in the living space but MAINLY BECAUSE THE BUILDINGS ARE OLD. These are the conditions ALABAMA STATE SENDS STUDENTS. Also, in the Front office supervisor over one of the facilities buildings does NOT do her job accordingly. From my understanding she’s suppose to be strict on smoking “marijuana in the rooms but when she found out it was a soror she didn’t take any incentive to communicate to the female to stop or room check throughly AT ALL , she has went along with the disrespect of Slamming DOORS! To my knowledge STUDENTS IF YOU WANT A PLACE GET A FRIEND AND COMMUNICATE AND COMMIT TO YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF KNOWING YOU WOULD NOT LIKE TO BE TREATED ANY TYPE OF WAY. PARENTS CHECK YOUR STUDENTS ROOMS AND SEE WHO THEY ARE ROOMING WITH BECAUSE NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN IF YOUR CHILD COMES OUT OF STATE AND DOESNT KNOW WHAT TO DO IN A BAD SITUATION AT LEAST YOU WILL HAVE YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING OF INSTINCT TO KNOW THE PERSON YOUR CHILD HAD TO BE ROOMED WITH. I never thought i would be able to attend college, but once i was enrolled in ASU it was a whole another experience for me. All the faculty and staff were great help in guiding me along the way. Also the university was equipped with the latest technologies and facilities.There is diversity everywhere and no one interferes with anyone. There are also many research opportunities Now i am graduating in 2016 with my biology pre-health degree. ASU has helped me in many ways with my financial issues by providing me with scholarships for all semesters. Now after four years i am in no debts all thanks to ASU. Great teachers! I love Alabama State University! I am a College of Education graduate. My only complaints about my school had nothing to do with my program. My issue was and currently is financial aid. It takes way too long to disperse refunds. This can inconvenience students living off campus and grad students, who need their funds for living expenses. My final gripe is that some of the older buildings need remodeling. They still give an old vibe. In those bathrooms they don’t even have dividers for males using the urinals.
