Top China — Restaurant in Montgomery

This was my first experience with Top China restaurant. I did not know what to expect so I ordered two lunch entrees. They come in a what appears to be a small covered bowl. The food is cooked to order and is very hot in temperature. I was able to only eat the bourbon chicken. I have the teriyaki chicken for another meal. I did not know how the food would be...... I thought it was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. 09 August 2023. I failed to mention that while it comes in a small bowl, when I emptied it out onto a plate, it covered the entire full size dinner plate. I knew at that moment I would not be able to eat both bowls. I felt it was well worth the $6.95 I paid for lunch entree. I will be back to this restaurant for another delicious lunch. Please remember if you have to wait a while for your order, be patient it is being prepared freshly. 25 August 2023 I ate my to go lunch entree here at the restaurant. They have tables. I brought my own leak resistant paper plate with me. I ordered the L 4. Moo Goo Gai Pan. I had no idea what it was, but I enjoyed it very much. I took a photo. It looks darker than the it should be because I added two packs of soy sauce. I am okay with sodium chloride. I highly recommend this restaurant. 07 March 2024 I enjoyed lunch there this afternoon. I very much enjoy Moo Goo Gai Pan because of the delicious sauce and the fresh vegetables. The chicken is incredibly tender and moist. When you get it in a bowl, it looks like very little, but you see how it ends up on a 10.5-inch plate. I highly recommend it. I want to thank everyone who has viewed this review. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in Montgomery. Always great food. Friendly service, and large portions. Food is always fresh, flavorful and hot. If you order carry out/pick-up, I suggest you remember the # they give you (they have lots of steady business,so lots of #s are given) and for large family sized orders give them 20- 30 minutes to prepare as everything is cooked to order. May I also suggest the House mixed vegetables. It is very similar to a Happy Family with all 3 meats , chicken, beef, & shrimp. Evidently their wings are excellent as lots of customers order them. Family owned, a sweet and polite asian couple and their 3 children ,who I guess are all teenagers now [ we've enjoyed seeing them grow up ].The dining room is storefront small next to a Renfroe's grocery store, this is the only negative. Since covid had them, at the time, close off their inside dining , when they reopened it they only installed tables to the sides maybe 8 total (each with room for 4) and kept the entire middle for chairs arranged in rows for those waiting their carryout orders. As I mentioned they do have a steady stream of those. They do move everyone along in a timely manner and it never really feels crowded . I called Top China to place a Pick up order and was rudely greeted then rushed to place my order then promptly rushed off the phone without being given a price or timeframe in which my food would be ready. I ordered the House Lo Mein with no shrimp informing Top China that I was allergic to the shrimp. The rest of my order consisted of steam dumplings and a drink.They did however repeat my order to me confirming no shrimp. My boyfriend went to pick up the order confirming that it was order number 7. I was not aware there was shrimp in my food until I was consuming it. My boyfriend called Top China to inform them of the situation in hope they would take responsibility and offer compensation. I could not call them back because I was too busy throwing up that death trap order. Top China did not apologize but instead told my boyfriend to bring the food back and he would receive a full refund. I asked my boyfriend to see if the boy with the long hair in his face who is always on his cell phone was the one answering the phones and he was. They should remove that guy off the phone and put someone there who has better customer service and pays attention to the customer's order. Especially when life-or-death hangs in the balance.
