Just discovered the place today! Tonkatsu ramen is delicious. The pork in it is super tasty, some of the best I've had. Eel sushi is great, of course, and the cheese wontons were also surprisingly good! Looking forward to coming back and trying something new ... maybe the sea urchin and quail egg, if they can get it in! Tried the eel rice bowl and hamachi kama (yellowtail neck) on another visit. Love the rice bowl! Can't go wrong with eel. Also, don't make the same mistake I did and order the yellowtail at the same time. Both dishes are big and can stand on their own. The yellowtail is only an appetizer if you're sharing it! That said, it's a very interesting, delicate dish. It's really quite heavenly with the crunchiness of the skin and the tenderness of the fish and some of the fat and just a bit of the ponzu sauce. Not something you need to drown the fish in. If you're looking for a bold flavor, this is not the dish for you. But if you're willing to try something new and subtle and savory, this dish is excellent. Back again: beef teriyaki bento box and eel & avocado hand roll! Let me start by saying the bento box is massive and you don't need anything else! Everything in it is also delicious. The hand roll was great, although I'm still puzzling out how you're supposed to eat it by hand with the sauce, haha. Had the combination fried rice to go. Good, but I think the rice needs ... something more in the way of flavor. Overall, still one of my favorite restaurants here. Sadly, still no quail eggs. Maybe never. :c

We tried Osaka tonight for the first time. We drive past it all the time. Our other sushi regular spot is steadily going downhill. For a starter we got the fried calamari. It was very nice. Soup was served because we ordered a dinner. We then proceeded to order 5 rolls. What I liked was that it was placed on a boat instead of one ore two rolls at a time on different plates. The rolls are very big. Not necessarily longer, but definitely thicker. Normally, 5 rolls we would be full. Tonight we almost couldn't finish. But we did. The pile of ginger and Wasabi was generous. Our server was very friendly and helpful making recommendations from the menu. The restaurant was clean and appropriately decorated. Comfortable. They had a nice selection of other traditional Japanese restaurant staples. The only reason I gave the food a 4 star rating is because the Wasabi on the side was rather weak. Other than that, everything was really great!!

Really couldn't be more disappointed by Osaka. After reading such raving reviews I decided to pop in and see what the fuss is about. I picked out three specialty items that have my favorite ingredients (yum yum, crab, shrimp tempura,), and they were all awful. They were bland, tasteless, and the presentation was okay at best. My shrimp tempura was hollow in some bites, just a husk of where shrimp meat should be (see attached). I would compare the taste to a mouthful of sand, but honestly I would have preferred a mouthful of sand. On the menu the scorpion roll was pictured to be served in the shape of a scorpion, but it was not presented this way when I ordered it. Sushi is made up of two key things thay justify its higher price point than other food: Taste, and Presentation. Tonight I paid $41 for an upset stomach and regrets. Not worth it.

Usually I have the best experience here and recommend it to many a future customer but the New Year's Eve staff was awful, I had to ask for my appetizer 3 times and that's ridiculous. So here's how it went, I asked for 2 sushi pizzas the server says okay, he comes back to our table when my brother gets there and I have to ask again and he hadn't even put it in yet. I got a beer and was served a warm beer with a hot fresh out of the washer glass and no appetizer. I get my food first out of 4 people. So I'm sitting there waiting for everyone else to get there food and maybe an appetizer? Then the next persons food. I asked again for the appetizer, eventually we receive it, but only one when I ordered 2 of them. They finally bring the other two people with us their food and it's not even the correct meal! AFTER that they bring the second appetizer. I finally try my cold food and the noodles are soggy falling apart from being over cooked, and their are literal shrimp tails and raw chicken. That was the first experience the two people I brought with me had. I was very disappointed and embarrassed to have brought them there that night and I never thought I would be say this but, way to live up to Prattville Osaka's standards. I would review your servers from that night and maybe NOT have that crowd working together anymore. NOT TO MENTION THE 8-YEAR-OLD CHILD YOU HAD ANSWERING THE PHONE AT THE FRONT DESK. ARE...

It really feels like they sold the business a little while back and it's been getting worse and worse. Once I saw those chik-fil-a straws like a year or more ago I should have known.

Floor is always sticky, food prices have gone up, quality has gone done, staff is no where near as good as it was a year ago. Zero consistency. Get the Bento box lunch and some times the server will let you sub the dumplings, but sometimes not. And no it's not a busy thing as every time I have gone during the "lunch rush" or the "Dinner rush" for the past 12 months there always seems to be like 4 tables max. They'll have a rush every now and again and be busy, but not often from what I see.

The food I had seemed to be old. The california rolls appeared to be from storage? Like they made a big batch and crammed them into a container to shove in the fridge and they had been there for a while. The crab in mine seemed soured and it was the same ordeal with the Kani Salad that I ordered. I pointed it out the waiter and he didn't care. Just sort of said ok and walked away.

Also my shrimp was cooked into little rubbery balls... All 4 I got in my bento that is.

Such a shame, they were good once, but that is gone now. Go have lunch or dinner somewhere else and don't waste the time...
