Filippo's Pizza & Italian Food — Restaurant in Monticello

The menu was unimaginative. Very basic line of pizza and "Italian" options. The food, however, was pretty good. They definitely make excellent sauces. I had the Veal Parm and the pasta was cooked correctly and the Veal had plenty of flavor. My partner had pizza and it was a decent pie for the cost. Again, the sauces stood out as being better than the rest of the dish. The biggest disappointment of the dinner was finding out that they only accept cash/check. That is a crazy business choice in 2018. Pass the fee forward to the customer if the issue is that the service is too expensive for the business to cover but to not offer it at all is an absurd business decision. I would have paid an extra 5-10% "debit card fee" rather than having to run home to get a check to drive back to pay. The only sign I could see that mentioned this was at the counter...where you pay...well after you eat. Their food IS better than average and the portion sizes are good but man was that a headache to deal with when checking out.

I'll probably order again in the future in the rare case that I have cash...

Tried this place for the first time and was not really impressed at all. The giant bread sticks taste like unseasoned hot dog buns, even the sauces couldn't save them. We got our pizza with no serving utensil so we just dug into the hot cheese with our hands. The cheese itself was good which is only reason for 2 stars. The dough was as flavorless as their bread sticks and the amount of sauce on it just made the cheese fall off. Our waitress never came back after taking our order so no drink refills, our 1 napkin had to work overtime for amount of sauce that got everywhere, and after sitting there done for a while we finally had to tell the to-go cashier what we ordered so we could pay and get out of there. Which is crazy because they had 7 employees working a place that only has like 15 tables, and people were standing around waiting for...

I absolutely love the pizza, it's amazing! But...they always screw something up. Either forgetting to make our pizza (twice now) or, like last night, getting the order wrong. I picked off the stuff I didn't order and it was still good though, lol. Update- we always order about once a week and are so glad they're back! I just wanted to say we just had one of the best pizzas we've ever had tonight, from anywhere. Cooked perfectly well done as we asked...
