We met our son and his girlfriend for supper (making us a party of 4). From the very beginning, signs of being disappointed became apparent.
Nobody near the entrance (and no signage) indicating whether we should seat ourselves or wait for a host/hostess. A passing worker finally said we can sit wherever.
The waitress was fairly prompt in taking our drink order while we were deciding on the food part. Again, she was quick and efficient taking our order. Probably 10 minutes later, she comes to our table with a tray of food...we exchanged looks like "that our food already?"...which it wasn't. About 45 minutes later, we still didn't have our food and was about 5 minutes away from paying for our drinks and leaving. The waitress must have sensed this as she finally stopped by to tell us that it should only be a few more minutes.
The food eventually arrived and it was just alright, nothing special, nothing that should have taken close to an hour to make/serve. We understand staffing shortages that restaurants are experiencing, but simple communication like "sorry for the long wait, I'll go check on things" would go a long way in showing guests are valued.
We like to try new places when we dine out, and do our best to give our business to local establishments, not chain restaurants. Maybe if we were locals and known by everyone, service would have been better, but our experience left us vowing that Hawks won't be on our "let's go...
Read moreWe got the Sunday burger special. Burgers were pretty good, juicy. The wait staff was hustling as it was fairly busy, and our server was super kind.
My main issue is the manager on today who was really rude when their system wouldn't read our card. Our server said that their new system has been having issues with some cards lately, and it wasn't something on our end (I checked my account as well).
The manager got an attitude with us that she would keep my card and license so we could get something else to pay. We didn't have cash or another way of paying on us, and I told her that. We were in town from the cities, so just running home wasn't an option. I asked her what she wanted us to do as it wasn't our fault. She then stated that it wasn't her fault my card was declined, insinuating that I just didn't have money to pay.
They had an ATM inside, so we pulled money thankfully (of course for the fee), and she acted as if she was shocked that we were able to get cash.
Again, our server was super kind and apologetic for the whole thing. The manager was standoffish and overall rude about the entire situation that is a THEM problem. Food was fine/pretty standard bar food. But ya know, apparently we were just trying to get out of our $30 bill. 🙄 Probably won't return just because of...
Read moreThe burgers are always really good. we did order a bowl of wild rice soup, and there was no wild rice in there it was white rice, and it was mush, and there was no taste what They need to make their own soups! Or get it somewhere else. And please get real, mayo! Went there, Nov. 21st, 2023, and the waitress was kind, but she, I believe, forgot to put our order in, so it took 45 minutes to get six chicken wings, soup, and chili. I would think the soup and chili were already made and hot, so I don't know why I took 45 minutes to get six chicken wings. She was also very busy talking to a friend. Now, there was a male server that was very tentative to all his customers, and we have had him before, and he is excellent. Next time, I'll make...
