I am typically satisfied with my visit here, however today I was not. This was a 2 thumbs down due to the fact I had my 2 year old son with me in for father's day. Only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the kitchen did their job well. Our waitress, Jordann, did not fulfill my order accurately at all, did not attempt to guide me through a better decision of ordering what I wanted in a more practical manner, nor tried to sell products with the consumer in mind. First I said specifically what I did for a reason and she twisted it into something to make more money. Secondly, once I brought up the issue with getting over charged she took it personally and responded with an unprofessional tone, third her attitude after getting the charges corrected via her manager; whom she was going to bring back to the table for me to talk to and did not, was offensive. She did not say thank you or I'm sorry, only 'this is all we could do', without the charismatic tone wait staff are known for, then walked away without much of a chance to thank her for it.. 2 meals were mixed into my order instead of a substitute. French toast special, which is 2 slices of toast w/bacon, eggs, and hash browns for $9 and the stuffed French toas,t which is 3 slices stuffed with strawberries for $8. Ala cart strawberries on the side are $3 for reference. I ordered a French toast special substitute the toast with stuffed French toast. Instead she gave me the stuffed French toast plate and ala carted 2 eggs @ $1.69 each, the hash browns @ $1.99, and the bacon @ $1.69. Got my son an oj too. Ticket had an extra coffee that I did not order as well. Total was $23.95 for a single plate order that should have been at most $17 if she was to give me the FT special substitute w/stuffed FT w/ 1 extra piece of toast @ $1.50 ala cart the strawberries @ $3 and the oj. After corrections were made the ticket was at $17.95. This place usually has great service and food and I understand they were extremely busy due to father's day, but there was no reason to be talked to nor treated...
Read moreMy family and I have eaten here at the Montrose location for 20 years. Today was our WORST experience ever! My wife and I both ordered the chicken fried steak skillet that was served "burnt" to us both. Even the gravy had a STRONG burnt taste to it. I asked the server to sample it and he agreed it was very bad. After getting both our orders replaced with fresh plates of food, we could still detect a burnt taste to the food (perhaps the fryer is now passing along the taste?). After talking to our server (who was great by the way!!!) we asked to speak to the manager to pass along our thoughts on this latest experience. She can and listened to our concerns and assured us she was hearing our concerns and promised to make it right. We didn't expect our meals to be comp'd or even be issued a discount. We just wanted our experience to be given attention and for the manager to make sure others didn't have the same bad experience. After sharing our bill with the server, even he was surprised that the manager chose to show her appreciation for our TERRIBLE experience by only deducting 10% off our bill. I don't think this manager understood how treatment of customers and their concerns can dictate how a consumer views a business and whether they choose to support them in the future by spending their funds with a business that doesn't fully appreciate such a negative experience. Our $10 tip shows we chose not to take it out on the server but will definitely choose to never again spend our hard earned income with a business that is not ready to hear constructive views from dissatisfied patrons. We can only hope ownership is listening and cares enough to read how poorly our breakfast experience was today. Maybe the servers and other hard working emoyees have experiences that ownership should know about? How can management handle things better in the future to ensure patrons continue to support...
Read moreHad a very bad experience here. I ordered the biscuit and gravy meat and eggs. There was no silverware on the table, the cinnamon roll was brought out to us, I had to grab silverware from a different table to eat the cinnamon roll. My husband asked for silverware and it was brought tos, but tossed down on a paper napkin. My husband asked for a few more napkins but they never came. The food was brought out, and I asked where the biscuits and gravy were. The lady said I just ordered the meat with eggs and hash browns. Rather than argue I just decided to eat. The eggs were decent, hash browns were ok, however the steak was so chewy, oversalted and over peppered. I couldn't eat it. My husband wanted to speak with the manager and all the waitress could do was say k with an attitude. Manager came we explained that the service was horrible, what happened with the silverware, how it took forever to get a refill on our drinks, and it wasn't that busy. While explaining this situation another waitress came over at the end when I explained the over salted, over peppered, chewy steak. The manager said they'd correct this, and while sitting at the table the waitress decide to say in front of multiple customers and us that it's not her fault the food was oversalted and peppered. She smiled as she did this, my husband tried to defend and say that wasn't all but the waitress walked away. Truly the most horrible experience I've had at starving Arvin's, and the worst tableside manner. I was out taking my mother to mother's day brunch, and was treated horribly. I used to say starvins was my favorite always told in coming travelers where to go, and how amazing it was. Not anymore. I will not be going back to...
