In the wise words of Drake, "where the F do I really event start." Had my wife and I read the negative reviews before coming here, we would have never visited.
First off, like many, we were sold on a local "8.7" pizza. The pizza certainly was not 8.7. The pie was eerily reminiscent of a pre-cooked frozen pizza from Costco. Is this worthy of a 1-star? No... what comes next is.
We made reservations for two at 6PM to sit at (or around) the bar. Immediately upon entering, we were greeted by an unwelcoming atmosphere. You know the scenes in cowboy movies when someone walks into a bar and everyone goes silent and stares at the new comer? Yeah, that's how it felt. We greeted the hostess and she directed us to find the upstairs... Again, this was our first time so we didn't know the geography of the building. We were approached by a waiter who then led us to what felt like "the outsiders room" upstairs. I'm a very observant person, so it was clearly evident this room was for people who they didn't want seen downstairs. For example, every family with kids was directed upstairs, however, we didn't bring kids. Upon climbing the stairs and entering this room, my immediate thought was "wow, the room that is lost in time." The carpet was old with gum still stuck to it, the blinds were yellow as if they were coated in a thick layer of nicotine and they were stained with something dark brown. Black & white photos surrounded the room, cheap chairs and tables that sparked the possibility of a "this is last minute, just find the cheapest furniture" scramble.
Just before we left, I told my wife "I wouldn't be surprised if they told us to leave out the back door because they don't want us seen" and sure as you know what, the upstairs hostess suggested we leave through the side door, and trust me, we did NOT.
I'd rather eat a burnt pizza from The Res...
Read moreThe pizza hype is well warranted! Legendary thin pizza. Pretty much the thinnest pizza I've had, but they still keep a good crunch and it holds the perfect amount of cheese. I was impressed that they have a pretty large menu outside of the pizza and a nice bar. We just showed up on a week night and there was a bit of a wait, but we just sat at the bar so we could order right away. They had drink specials for $5 And the pizzas were all 20 bucks or a little more with toppings. The building is historic and the vibes were good. The guy from Dave portnoy's review was walking around checking in on people too which was fun. Apparently this place partners with someone to sell personal pizza ovens, but I guess they were out of stock. I couldn't tell if this was a fancy place or a chill place, but maybe it depends on The day of the week or the time of day. We went in our hiking clothes and felt a little out of place, but there were some other people in jeans and sweatshirts and stuff. Either way I highly recommend it. For the regular pizza. We got another pizza that was like a drunk Grandma. Something with hot honey and it was great, but the toppings were a little bit heavy for the crust to hold so it didn't have that nice crisp that the plain cheese has...
Read moreFirst time in. Greeted with an unwelcoming and rude, "do you have a reservation". Not a, "hello, how are you guys doing tonight or can I help you". A completely unprofessional greeting. Next, the service. Horrid. Meaning, again unwelcoming, no personality, no skill. Took our order and that's it. No explanation of specials, nothing. Waiter did not deliver appetizer, or meals for that matter. In fact, must have had a minimum of 5 different servers wait on our table. The original waiter, NEVER RETURNED, to ask us if we needed anything or if everything was good. In fact, NO ONE, returned to check with us after our meal was delivered. Not to get to lengthy, this place is low on the refinement scale. The staff reflects this completely. This review is based on the customer relation and overall character of this establishment. The food is a complete other write up, which I have no patience and time to comment. I'll just say it reflects the unpar level of satisfaction my family and I experienced with the service. In fact, as I write, I'm discusted that we even wasted our time and money going to the Columbia Inn. Despite the reviews on the web and personel referrals, I truly can't ever and will not recommend this...
