I recently had a terrible experience at this Starbucks. After visiting the Starbucks in East Lyme, where I saw tumblers and cups on sale, I was in a hurry and couldn’t make the purchase at the time. I assumed I could get the same deal at the Montville location since both are Starbucks inside Stop & Shop stores.
When I arrived at the Montville location, I saw a rack of tumblers and cups with sale signs on them, so I expected the same promotion. However, when I went to check out, the cashier, Caitlyn, told me she had no idea about any sale. Thankfully, another barista kindly explained that the supervisor hadn’t updated the prices in the system or labeled the new sale prices. I was told it would probably be fixed by the end of the day. I left, assuming they’d resolve the issue or remove the signs.
The next day, I returned to check if the prices had been updated. Caitlyn was the only one working behind the counter, and when I pointed out that the sale signs were still there with the same prices, she responded with a terrible attitude, saying: “I don’t know why, it’s not my job.” I was shocked! As the cashier, it is indeed her job to help customers with price discrepancies. Her response showed either a lack of training or a complete disregard for her role. To make matters worse, she didn’t even bother notifying a manager about the issue.
After I requested to speak to a manager, Caitlyn brought over another lady to check the computer. I was hopeful this would lead to an explanation, but instead, both of them stood behind the counter, laughing and chatting with no intention of addressing the problem. At that point, I was done. It felt more like a scam, attracting customers with sale signs when nothing was actually on sale.
This experience was beyond frustrating, and the unprofessional behavior of the staff, particularly Caitlyn, was appalling. I won’t be returning to this Starbucks, and I advise others to stay...
Read moreKathy needs to work on her customer service skills. Starbucks corporate needs to step in and staff this appropriately, it is always understaffed, who I feel bad for, but also there is a male Stop&Shop employee who is nice and helps out the Starbucks by filling in on breaks but he has no idea how to make the drinks which defeats the purpose of helping. They need to either close down for breaks or be adequately staffed. He literally asks you how to make your drink, if there's not enough staff then it just needs to be shut down. I'm about to rattle off a few eye-rolling phrases such as I've worked customer service myself etc. but I just felt I needed to be heard. My wife had a panic attack because this guy took 30 min to make basic menu items, the first drink was awful and we didnt even wait for the second. The people behind us were judging us as crazy people but this is ridiculous. Does McDonald's ask you how to build your burger? No. It's a nice gesture for the guy to do but it's not his problem. Shut it down by management for the employee to have a break or staff it fully. I will be contacting both Starbucks and Stop and Shop...
