My parents and I stayed at the Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham near Mohegan Sun for one night last Saturday 1/11/25. We hadn't stayed here since I was a little kid, but we don't plan on returning. The customer service was poor with the exception of one front desk agent named Victoria. She was the only one spoke fluent English and was willing to be helpful to us during our stay.
The quality of the room was poor. The room had a musty odor to it, several hairs in the drain of the shower upon arriving, and cigarette smoke coming through the vents of the bathroom ceiling. The room itself is also outdated and needs A LOT of renovations. They literally have one table in the lobby/breakfast area, which clearly indicates they don't want anyone eating breakfast in a breakfast area. Make that make sense because it sure as heck doesn't.
The worst part was when the shuttle back to Microtel from the casino was full because none of the spoiled college aged girls were willing to give up a seat so that my handicapped mother could ride back to the casino. The shuttle driver said that he would be right back after a quick run to the hotel, but never came back. There was another white shuttle that arrived about fifteen minutes later that we thought belonged to Microtel, but it turned out to belong to the Holiday Inn across town. My mom, myself, and one other lady were told by the other passengers that they were going to Microtel too, but it turns out that they lied also.
The shuttle driver from the Holiday Inn grumbled about the mix up until I spoke up and said "Sir, shit happens." When we got back, we found our van driver standing behind the front counter playing on his phone. What happened to coming right back? Aside from the show my Mom and I went to, what a night from hell we had. Please don't stay this...
Read moreBooked a room for a Saturday night since we were planning to go to Mohegan for the weekend. We were running late for check in time (at 3pm) so we had to rush to make it on time. (The website indicated there was a late check in fee.) We made it there with a few minutes to spare. Upon checking in, we heard this lady next to us complaining to the front desk about how its been over 1 hour and her room was still not ready and that she needed to be somewhere.
After checking in, we were told that our room was not ready and it would be a few minutes. It wasn't a problem until we waited for 15 minutes and there was still no communication from the front desk about whether our room was ready. I went up to the front desk to ask and was told it will take a few more minutes, the room is not available yet. After another 15 minute wait (now a total of 30mins) yet again i had to go ask the front desk only to be given the same response, room was not ready. After almost 50 minutes, we were finally told our room was ready. We were given a half hearted apology, "sorry for the inconvenience" and that was it. Bad time management Bad management overall Staff could have told us upon checking in that it was going to take about an hour for them to clean the room. We could have went out to eat for that hour instead of waiting in the lobby (which was tiny) with all of our belongings. I was so frustrated having to sit there for almost an hour with no communication from the staff. This is our first and will be our last. I would not recommend it to anyone. For $250+ a night, this was not worth the money. Everything in the room was mediocre, nothing to...
Read moreOur weekend stay here was less than enjoyable to say the least. Juwan or Duwan or whatever the young man’s name was working the desk second shift all weekend was absolutely miserable that groups of people had arrived. Not only did his face scream it non verbally, but he would talk bad about us and our children with us standing just in the next area. It looked like multiple sporting events were happening, and athletes from all sports were staying with families, teammates and coaches. This bothered him, as I’m sure his typical week days are quiet and quaint. As we typically do, the team meets in the lobby, conference room, wherever there is an available area, and do some team bonding activities or play games. We are in our rooms by 9pm and never leave a mess. Sure, our kids, especially those under 6, can get excited, yell, run, or even cry.. but nothing you shouldn’t expect from a group of people being shoved into a small hotel room. This hotel does not offer a pool, an area to congregate, an edible and worthy breakfast, more than 2 towels per room, working keys, accommodating or friendly staff or English speaking room attendants that can even offer you help.. therefor there was absolutely no reason for the price of our stay. We, and our children, left feeling unwanted, overcharged and judged. This was the LEAST family friendly stay we’ve ever had as a team. At least we won first place at our competition! That almost made it worth...
