Updated from initial reviewbelow! There are several Hispanic restaurants in our area and several are very good but el patron is my favorite. Great portions and prices and the dishes are different from everyone else by using different recipes and ingredients in many dishes. Flavors are amazing...hands down the best around. Update...wow this restaurant has fallen far from the market they once had. I recently ordered mexican spaghetti and I get home to eat and I nearly choked to death on a leaf in my food. The stem lodged in my throat and would not come out. Once I finally got it up and could breathe again I called and the person said they would replace it. So I go in the next time and the management acts like it's no big deal and they did nothing wrong. Wouldn't replace it and I was disappointed but understanding and called it a unfortunate event and didn't hold it against them. So I go back tonight and order the same dish I always order which is a half portion of mexican spaghetti and the waiter says yes we can do that and brings my food. The food was good but when I checked out they charged me for a full portion and then the management said they never do half portion orders which they have done at least 10 times before and I said I wouldn't have ordered this if you had said we can't do half portion. They said they could and lied to me. That's the issue I have is being lied to. Then they insult me by saying here's 2 dollars. I said I don't want it and I will pay this price but I'll never eat there again. And it's such a shame that the management ruined this restaurant for me. If you want to eat there then by all means the food is typically good. But hospitality and handling mistakes might be a problem if you have the same...

Visited El Patrón in Moody, AL for Cinco de Mayo and, as expected, it was packed — but totally worth it! 🎉🌮🇲🇽

The ambiance was festive and fun, with colorful decor and a lively crowd. It’s also very family-friendly, making it a great spot for both kids and adults. If you’re planning to go for Cinco de Mayo or any major Mexican holiday, a reservation is a must! 🎊

We sat at the bar and had an awesome time with the bartenders — great energy, fast service, and even some trivia fun. Ended up winning a shirt! 🧠🍹👕

Drinks were on point and the menu has tons of variety. What stood out was how accommodating they were with dietary needs — lots of vegetarian, pescatarian, and gluten-free options, and very open to customizations. Huge plus for inclusive dining ✅🌱🐟🌽

Clean space, friendly staff, and great vibes all around. There's also plenty of free parking, which is always appreciated. Super easy to find, and they have twin locations in Trussville and Birmingham if you're closer to those areas.

Would definitely come back on a less busy night to soak in more of the food and atmosphere. Overall, a fun, flavorful, and welcoming experience!
