I am not happy writing this negative review about a Pittsburgh institution. But I think it is necessary. Growing up in Pittsburgh area, frequenting the original Primanti Brothers in the Strip District was a time honored late, late night tradition when crowds continuously broke into the chant "cheesesteak -cheesesteak!" We all loved going there after a concert or movie, and the Cheesesteak (now called the "Pittsburgher") was my favorite. However, having frequented the chain restaurants in Robinson Township, Moon Township, and even at PNC Park, I've noticed (and I'm not the only one) that the meat patty used on the current "Pittsburgher" is not the same quality of meat that I remember from years ago. I even noticed lately that the bread used is different. It has always appeared to me that when Primantis grew and expanded, the quality of that particular favorite of mine has decreased. The "Pittsburgher" I bought yesterday (May 2) at the Moon Township restaurant resembled the original cheesesteak sandwich only because it had fries and coleslaw. The sandwich was (as it has been in the recent past) bland and tasteless. I feel a little remorse because younger customers who purchase this particular sandwich (along with all the visitors and sport's announcers who come from different parts of the country who sing the praises of the "Pittsburgher") are not getting the quality of sandwich my friends and I loved so much years ago. I don't know, but I have thought my taste buds have changed as I became older. But after talking to many friends and relatives, I've found that it's not me - it's the sandwich. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, however. I guess when Primantis replaced the name "Cheesesteak," maybe they changed the recipe (or at least the meat and bread). Sorry to know that the original sandwich is gone. Maybe the owners can revisit this and bring back the...

Yes, I knew the style of sandwiches before we got there, no it wasn't as good as I expected. My wife didn't care for it at all.
The good, we were able to get a seat right away, and they're open late. More than a few tables were full, but I'd not say it was busy. Most of the seats at the bar were taken.
The sandwich I received, a reuben, was decent, but poorly put together, and unbalanced, too much slaw, too few fries, meat lumped in the middle, and just a squirt of sauce. It was warm-ish, but not a hot sandwich. It used a sweet horseradish sauce which was different, and ok, but slaw is no substitute for sauerkraut. Also a pretty big miss because I ordered the original, but was so hungry I just went with it since I enjoy a reuben.
My wife's pastrami sandwich had a mustard-like sauce on plain white bread. Pretty boring for a pastrami sandwich, again bad proportions and poor construction.
I'm guessing the mix up with my order was because by the time we left the music was deafening. I couldn't hear my wife across the table, and barely could hear the server. It's also annoying when you hear a song you like and suddenly it's skipped, then another song starts, skip, skip, skip... Just let the music play. Atmosphere was weak - felt like I place you go so you don't have to talk to each other because you can't.
Beyond that, or server was ok. She was on top of drink refills, and came by to check on us, but gave off a bit of an "I have better things to do with my time" attitude. Felt like being with my cousins.
Not sure I'll go back. Bit of a let down for such a...
Read moreI ordered a buffalo chicken flatbread (with no red onion) and the original chicken salad. I called in the order 15 minuets ahead. I walked over from my hotel room. I arrived and they asked me if I ordered online. I said no I called in the order. They first thought I ordered at the wrong restaurant which of course I knew I had not. They searched around for about 5 minuets until they found my order sitting next to the cash register. It had been written down 15 minuets prior but never put in. They ran it back to the kitchen and informed me it wouldn't be long to wait for the two items. No one took the blame for the incident. No one apologized. I waited for about 15 minuets for them to then cook the food. They brought it out without the salad and couldn't figure out what they did with the salad. Another 5 minuets went by they remade the salad. They charged me the normal price for all items even after waiting that long because they forgot to put the order in. They offered me no where to sit and wait. They seemed much more concerned with seating other customers that came in. The buffalo chicken flat bread had large chunks of chicken (too big in my opinion) and red onion which I ordered it without. At this point I had given up. The chicken salad was delicious and perfect but it did not make up for the...
