Fresh Chef Kitchen — Restaurant in Mooresville

The first time we tried this place was last year. Our orders were a bit messed up but my son ordered a steak without blue cheese. It came with blue cheese on it so I asked if they could get another one for him without the blue cheese.

A few minutes go by and his "new" steak comes out. I had my suspicions about it so I had him check the bottom. All they did was scrap the blue cheese off with a knife and flipped his steak so we couldn't see the spots of blue cheese STILL on the steak.

It's a good thing it wasn't an allergy or anything otherwise he would have had an issue.

Figured it may have been an off night or something but we went again just yesterday to give it another chance.

Ordered a well done salmon dish and a burger with bacon. The bun on my burger was a sponge of grease and the salmon was definitely under cooked. The bacon was undercooked as well. So was the second order of bacon that I got to replace the first. Although a bit more burnt, without actually being crispy. Not sure how they pulled that one off.

For the price, the food doesn't seem worth it, especially if they don't know how to cook it to order.

My wife says the Denver location isn't bad so we might give that one a try but I will not be returning to the one in Mooresville.

Steadily going downhill. This used to be our “go to” place, 2 times a week easily, but sadly it’s not anymore. They have progressively changed everything we liked and substituted on quality and execution. Tonight’s dinner solidified our need to move on… server, one of them, was clueless, asked us how our food was after she placed it on the table, and before we even finished brought our check without asking if we wanted dessert, coffee, or anything else for that matter. Sides were bland and unseasoned. Our beloved kale salad was awful, they don’t blanch the kale or massage it with lemon, and the dressing was pure oil, tasteless, bitter and hard to chew. My Caesar was underdressed, under seasoned, grilled shrimp were precooked, sautéed and not grilled, and butterflied to make them look bigger since they reduced the size (people are not idiots we know the difference). Whomever is in the kitchen cooking needs to taste the food once in a while and please retrain the servers… personally I rather see one server cater to us so they know where we are at in our dinner, dropping a check off when my plate was half full was irritating. Needless to say it’s time we take an extremely long or permanent ...

The only reason this very special spot doesn't get the FULL 5 stars from me is that I can't abide the music they play! Who wants to listen to tunes like Afternoon Delight and Muskrat Love? I'd rather drive the extra 10 minutes to the Fresh Chef in Cornelius than sit and have my ears assaulted. When I have mentioned this to servers they tell me they get lots of complaints but the management doesn't care, therefore to save the great waiters and waitresses from being fussed at for their honesty, I'm not going to mention any names.

Now...to be completely fair, I love everything else about this place. The kale salad is always a must for me, although I like always ask for half te amount of dressing (at either location,) and the salmon, crabcakes and black and blue steak salad are my three favorite entrées. They occasionally have a chicken and artichoke soup that is absolutely amazing.

The bottom line is, I don't think I'll go back inside the Mooresville location again, I'll just take out (sorry to the waitstaff who will not be getting those tips,) or as mentioned above, I'll simply drive up the road a few miles and get the same great, fresh food and attentive waitstaff without the outdated...
