The restaurant strikes a perfect balance between traditional and contemporary, creating an ambiance that’s both inviting and stylish – ideal for a casual dinner with friends or a special date night.
As for the cuisine, Sushi Planet goes above and beyond with its Japanese offerings. A standout starter is the Edamame, especially the Garlic Edamame, which offers a tantalizing twist on the classic. But the real showstopper is their Spicy Crispy Sushi. This dish is a marvel of flavors and textures, balancing the heat with just the right amount of crunch, making it a must-try for sushi aficionados and novices alike.
Complementing the exquisite food is their selection of beverages, with a notable highlight being their white wine. Served in beautifully crafted wine glasses that add an extra touch of elegance to the dining experience, the wine selection is robust enough to please connoisseurs while remaining accessible to those new to wine tasting.
The overall dining experience at Sushi Planet is elevated by the warm and welcoming staff. They exude a kind of friendliness and professionalism that makes you feel right at home. Their attentiveness and knowledge about the menu items add greatly to the overall experience, ensuring that each visit...
Read moreMy friend and I went here the other day, and when we walked in, we were greeted by a server, as usual. She told us that we would be seated in a couple minutes, so we waited. After waiting for about 5 to 10 min., we still weren't seated, and we saw vacant spots in the restaurant along with people just walking in and getting seated. So, we decided to ask the server what was going on, and as we were getting up from the waiting spot, another server seated us right away. I guess the first server forgot about us.
Once we were seated, we ordered our sushi, and it came in a timely manner. However, the quality and the quantity of food was in question. Even though the sushi is fairly cheap, the portions are tiny (each roll was about half the size of a regular roll), and it tasted bland. Talk about mediocre sushi.
Whoever is working the front desk should be put somewhere else, as waiting that long to be seated in an open restaurant is really annoying. The food quality was definitely in question as well. If you go further down LA Avenue, you will find at least three sushi restaurants that will give you more for your money and better quality.
However, I do have to give them credit for their boba. It's a little expensive, but...
Read moreFour months ago I would have given Sushi Planet 5 stars. I've been semi-regularly going to Sushi Planet since the onset of the pandemic. The prices have been fair, they've been very accommodating for allergies, and everyone that works there is very friendly. I'm not sure if there are new staff or owners, but something was off during my last visit in July of this year. The fish in our sushi was obviously old and the overall quality of the ingredients in the meal had significantly decreased. I understand this is a tough time for restaurant - food prices have gone up 20% in the last 2 years, there are challenges sourcing a lot of ingredients, and the cost to keep good waitstaff has also increased for many good reasons. I'll happily come back and pay a bit more if you can find a way to source better and...
