My first visit was a disappointment given that there are many breakfast choices that have better service. The place has about 12 tables which were mostly occupied when I arrived on a Monday morning. After being seated the waiter took our order asking if I’d like toast. I said yes, sourdough, and I would like cream with the coffee. A short time later the coffee, sans cream, arrived. After ten minutes and no cream I noticed some on an adjacent empty table so I found one half and half serving there. Another five minutes and I went to the pay station and requested a container of the cream servings. Someone from the kitchen delivered the breakfast which was warm and tasty. In the meantime, no waiter, which meant no coffee refills. After finishing, the waiter appeared with the check and I asked about the missing toast. The reply was “Oh, well I didn’t charge you for it.” Nice. Since I didn’t know when the waiter would appear I took the check to the pay station and gave the person a credit card. He said “Didn’t the waiter tell you we only take cash?” I said “No.” So I gave him a $50 bill for the $41 meal, but he had no small bills so he gave me two $5 back. Thinking I still might leave a small tip I asked if he could change a five. “No.” Well at that point there was no way I was going to leave a five dollar tip so I left. The menu said this place has been in business since 2018 so they should have figured out by now that service counts and one waiter can chase customers elsewhere. Even though the food was well prepared (Don’t know about the toast) and so I gave three stars, I won’t go back to the...
Read moreThere's "Moor" good Mexican food in Moorpark! Being a first timer, immediately I noticed pride of ownership. Clean entrance, dinning room , decorative hallway and bathroom. There's a cool mural picturing a family member ( possibly the founder) cooking tacos or tortas.I should of asked. The female cashier/ waitress was well dressed, attentive and informative answering kindly all my questions. Seems they're known for breakfast (several choices to choose from ; I'll try them next time) but I went for the Rancho 🍔. From the brioche bread, crispy lettuce, tomatoes, onions, good size and well cooked beef patty , cheese, jalapenos and the crown jewel chorizo. It definitely was delicious and deviated from the classic All american cheese burger. It was American, just made with Mexican parts! The garlic skinny fries were a good compliment to a fiesta of flavors. So if ever your in Moorpark and have a hunkerin' for Mexican breakfast and or burgers, Stop in at Jarros! They do have outdoor patio seating . Fellow Americans, stay safe, sanitize and keep social distancing. Only...
Read moreI was in the neighborhood, so I thought I’d give this place a try. The atmosphere was low-key and it’s a nice breakfast environment. I was surprised to see how much more the entire menu costs were compared to the pictures of the menu on a review site. It’s worth noting that Jarro’s Café doesn’t have their own website, much less any kind of a menu posted. So, all that’s available in that regard are just customer photos of the menu… regardless of how old they might be. I’m posting menu pics with this review that are effective as of the date this is posted.
I ordered the eggs benedict, which was all of OK. I’ve had better. Where Jarro’s shines particularly bright is their service. The waiter was incredibly gracious and welcoming, and always kept my drinks filled.
It seems to me that there’s potential here to elevate the restaurant to the next level. If Jarro’s Café put their menu online (including updating it), as well as kick up the meal quality a notch, I’d be happy to re-review and increase stars...
