Buckle in, cause you're in for quite an assessment.
We came here to celebrate our grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary last night. As a group of 19, we made a reservation weeks in advance. Upon arrival we were promptly seated, and after we were all settled in, a young woman, who we assumed would be our server for the night, took our drink orders and brought them out promptly. A good start.
A few minutes later a new server, an older blonde woman named Shelly, came to take our order. Our party told her we'd want a couple separate checks in advance. Now, you would assume she would just go down the line and take everyone's order but instead she came up to our end first and demanded to know what check we were on. We provided her with the last name to identify ourselves but she was having none of that. She asserted that she wouldn't use our last names. Ok, that's fine. So she asked us again what check we were on. At this point we were perplexed; what answer did she want? After a few moments of her aggressively asking us this repeated question she just asked who was part of our group and assigned us the number one. Whatever, miscommunication error.
She rudely took our order, jumped around from one end of the table to the other instead of just going down the line, and treated us like children.
As we waited, the appetizers and side dishes came out and we all began nibbling away.
An hour passed and no sign of our entrées. To make matters worse, Shelly never came by to refill our drinks or ask us if we needed anything. We had to ask her for more water and beverage refills. At this point I felt that she was being unprofessional.
After almost 2 hours we asked if our food was going to be coming out any time soon. We noticed that tables who came in after us had eaten and left before we even saw an entrée. We were all starving at this point and beginning to become grumpy.
We patiently waited for Shelly to take all of the empty, dirty dishes off of our table but she didn't seem to care.
Once the entrées began coming out we were relieved. However, all of the dirty plates were still scattered across our table. To consolidate space we stacked everything up. There were multiple servers who came out, called out the orders, and placed them in front of the people who ordered them.
We asked Shelly to take the dirty plates and she snapped back at us that she was going to take them once she was done plating. How that made any sense, I have no clue. It seemed that anytime we asked her for something, she came up with an excuse to justify her behavior. We considered asking for a new server multiple times but always decided to give her one more chance. We were wrong to do so.
From the time the first entrée came out to the last the elapsed time must have been 10 minutes. The youngest of our group picked at their food and did not seem to have an appetite anymore.
I had ordered the chicken marsala. They must have used sweet wine instead of dry because my dish was so sugary that I could not eat it. Everyone else seemed only somewhat satisfied with their food.
For an Italian restaurant, the food was average. Not great, but not bad. The atmosphere was fine; not too noisy. The service, I would assume is normally average too, but our server was horrible. It appeared that because she knew she was going to slap us with automatic gratuity, she did not care one bit to put any effort into her work. As a previous server, I was embarrassed for her. She took what was supposed to be a wonderful, happy evening with family and turned it into a mediocre, frustrating experience.
Shelly needs to be retrained on how to properly serve and interact with guests. Her attitude was not...
Read moreWe made reservations for New Years weeks in advance for a party of ten. We had to wait to be seated because our table was overbooked, not to big of a deal. Upon looking at the menu, we learned that it was consolidated because of the holiday, again not that big of a deal. Now let us get into the issues. They offered no vegetable, just a side of pasta bolognese, with your meal. I asked just to be sure and was curtly told that due to the amount of people in the restaurant they were not serving vegetables. All right then, I just did not get a side. Our appetizers came out in a timely fashion, but then the wait began. At 10pm the table next to us actually got up and went to the back to see where there entrees were as well, being we had been seated for approximately two hours. They were curtly told that a table of 31 was currently being plated and that it was still going to be a bit. At this point ours as well as that table asked for our checks so that we may depart as we did not want to spend ringing in the new year at the reastauant. They promptly shoved them in our faces with not even a tiny apology. We dine out quite frequently, and all over I might add, it is what we like to do. We do not care about decor or price etc., if your food is good we will continue to dine. What we experienced was totally unacceptable. I also forgot to add the fact that they raised the prices 10 dollars, which kind of made me a little uneasy, as if everyone was being taken advantage of. So to sum it up, we will not be the repeat non holiday customers that we were due to the rude and lackluster service and blasé way that the management handled the...
Read moreWe had reservations for my 60th birthday. There were 13 of us at dinner. We made reservations 2 weeks prior. It took the hostess 10 minutes to come to our table to take our drink orders. We placed appetizer orders which came out okay. However it took them over 2 1/2 hours to bring our meals out. Some of us received our meals while others had to wait longer. One of our guests received her potato and vegetable and had to wait another 7 minutes before her fish came out. And mind you the fish was the special. 14 other people came, where served and left prior to us getting our meals. The waitress kept telling me that our meals were coming out shortly. And when some of the meals came out they were cold.
I have called to speak to the owner twice since this happened before I wrote this review to see if there was a problem that night and they have not returned my call. We choose this restaurant as we have been there several times and siesta had great food and service. All I asked was for a call back. Nothing. Thanks for ruining my 60th birthday...
