A deep dive into RedFish Grill & Bar

First of all, the atmosphere is inviting, well lit and very clean. The hostess was nice and sat us immediately. It was a Sunday evening on the off season, so we didn't expect a rush or anything. Our waitress was kind and patient with our questions, she was also knowledgeable about the dishes. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and crab dip with pita slices for the appetizers. The four large scallops were covered in a spicy, sweet sauce and laid on a bed of sliced greens. They were cooked perfectly: the bacon crisp and chewy, the scallops just have that slight give before melting in your mouth... scrumptious! The crab dip was really tasty, strong creamy cheese flavor with a subtle crab meat note, would have liked more crabby taste and less cheese. The pita chips we expected would be crisp, but these were pillowy soft and actually paired well with the dip, though difficult to load the soft bread with the goopiness of the dip. Our entrees were the Mixed Grill and the Crab Stuffed Mahi. The Mixed Grill was well spiced, with the first taste of zingy lemon with notes of cayenne pepper and a blackened flavor on the end. Chicken was moist and shrimp thankfully, cooked to perfection. The crab stuffed Mahi was decadent and ooey, gooey cheesy, not unlike the crab dip. The fish wasn't dry, nor chewy. I could actually taste crab among the competing flavors of creamy cheese, sweet crabmeat and subtle Mahi flesh. As sides, we ordered the Yukon gold mashed potato, grilled zucchini and coleslaw. The mashed potatoes were tasty, no additional salt or pepper needed. The zucchini was sliced in quarters and cooked so nicely, seared on all sides and salted. The coleslaw, unfortunately was not a hit. It had an off flavor that did not sit well with us and they took it away and replaced it with green beans, on their insistence. The service was GREAT, food AMAZING, and we will definitely make this place a regular stop whenever we're in Morehead City in the future!

We wanted a nice sit down place for dinner and my son found this nice restaurant on Google Maps App. We did not want any fried foods, and definitely not the usual commercial places. We looked at their online menu, and decided to give this establishment a try. Let me tell you, that for a very nice relaxed evening out whether with family, friends or date night, the prices are worth it. It's a little more upscale which was fine as we wanted a nicer dinner, and the food is absolutely delicious. I had seared scallops and my son had the seared yellow fin tuna. Both dishes were absolutely delightful. We also had the crab dip appetizer, and my son had the clay chowder which was extreme delicious as he allowed me to have a small nibble to taste it. I definitely highly recommend this restaurant for their fabulous seafood, and an awesome atmosphere. Our waitress was fabulous as we were well taken care of. Parking was a little hard to find as there was a competition angler fishing event just finishing up at the pier across the street, but we were not far from the restaurant at all. When we come out to visit Morehead City and the Outerbanks to visit again, we will definitely come here as well.

Celebrated July 4 at Red Fish Grill and Bar so we knew there would be a wait. An hour 15 minutes later we were seated. Ordered drinks and decided to stay with the Crab Dip (16) consisting of blue crab lump, blend of cheese, and crispy pita bread. It was gone within minutes; it was that good. For entrees, we had the Mahi BLT (19) with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, Cajun aioli and fries deemed delicious and very satisfying; Seared Tuna Steak (30) barrel cut, and seared rare (cold in center), Over wild rice and grilled zucchini, lemon herb grill sauce and house made soy reduction, thought to be too spicy overall and difficult to finish; Cajun Shrimp and grits (27) sauteed shrimp, sausage, peppers, onions, in a Cajun gravy sauce over smoked gouda cheese grits was spicy with thinly sliced sausage and generous about of shrimp. There was very little grits so that was a bit disappointing; Bacon-wrapped sea scallops (19); and Grilled chicken skewers (19) toasted pita. tzatziki sauce. and cucumber salad. Overall it was a good experience but I think we'd try different dishes or adjust the dishes we got to make them less spicy.

This is one of the best restaurants we have eaten at, in a long time. We arrived at 6 p.m. and there were already a lot of people, hopefully they gave us the only table left on the terrace. From that moment on, a 20-minute waiting line formed. Our waitress at all times was friendly and very professional, and she gave us detailed advice on the dishes. I chose the stuffed sole (special of the day) and my husband the tuna. wow!! Delicious and perfectly presented. I got a lot of food as the sole was topped with crab meat and lots of shrimp and a delicious cheese sauce. The tuna was perfectly cooked and delicious, as were the vegetables and the mashed potatoes. Honestly, we left very satisfied and with that feeling of money well spent. I definitely recommend it, its cuisine is a pleasure for the palate.
