This has been the worst restaurant experience my husband and I have ever had when dining out! We received a recommendation to come here but will go back to the source and tell them that they were wrong. First, the website shows different items on the menu that the menu does when you dine in the restaurant. Our server, Eva seemed to think it was updated but could not be sure. After ordering our appetizers we were totally forgotten. We were waiting for plates, silverware and napkins, after a few minutes we asked another server for these items since the waitress Eva was nowhere to be found. It did not seem to bother the other waitress that we had nothing to eat with! She plopped the dishes down and left. After only a few more minutes, our food came to the table and again the server plopped the food down on the table and left. Our original server Eva came back and said she didn't want to rush us but wanted to know if we wanted to go boxes... Really??? WHAT??? In the mean time, another waitress that filled our water then came to our table and asked if we wanted cocktail or tartar sauce? Does anyone know what the other is doing here? After that issue, I used the ladies room and on the way out got slammed back into the ladies room by the server revolving door which hits the ladies room door when opened, it slammed so hard I felt the impact in my wrist. The server didn’t seem to care and think it was a big deal; they were in a hurry to take their food to a table. This is not a problem for the Red Fish Restaurant, but a LIABILITY! I asked for the manager so I could share our horrible experience, and the hit I received from the server door from the ladies room door. Not sure if she was the Manager, her name was Alyssa but she did not introduce herself. I told her I wanted to talk to her one on one instead of writing a negative yelp review but it seemed she didn’t really care if I did or not. After explaining everything we experienced that evening, she acknowledged everything, and told me that they are aware of the server door and ladies room door issue. She offered no apologies, inquiry, etc.,Alyssa then with a blank stare and a bit of sarcasm told me to have a nice rest of my evening. It is apparent to us that the Red Fish restaurant does not care about their patrons. We are appalled by the lack of attention and knowledge, the “Don’t Care “attitude from everyone and especially by the dismissal of concerns presented by supposed Management. You should all be ashamed...
Read moreFirst of all, the atmosphere is inviting, well lit and very clean. The hostess was nice and sat us immediately. It was a Sunday evening on the off season, so we didn't expect a rush or anything. Our waitress was kind and patient with our questions, she was also knowledgeable about the dishes. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and crab dip with pita slices for the appetizers. The four large scallops were covered in a spicy, sweet sauce and laid on a bed of sliced greens. They were cooked perfectly: the bacon crisp and chewy, the scallops just have that slight give before melting in your mouth... scrumptious! The crab dip was really tasty, strong creamy cheese flavor with a subtle crab meat note, would have liked more crabby taste and less cheese. The pita chips we expected would be crisp, but these were pillowy soft and actually paired well with the dip, though difficult to load the soft bread with the goopiness of the dip. Our entrees were the Mixed Grill and the Crab Stuffed Mahi. The Mixed Grill was well spiced, with the first taste of zingy lemon with notes of cayenne pepper and a blackened flavor on the end. Chicken was moist and shrimp thankfully, cooked to perfection. The crab stuffed Mahi was decadent and ooey, gooey cheesy, not unlike the crab dip. The fish wasn't dry, nor chewy. I could actually taste crab among the competing flavors of creamy cheese, sweet crabmeat and subtle Mahi flesh. As sides, we ordered the Yukon gold mashed potato, grilled zucchini and coleslaw. The mashed potatoes were tasty, no additional salt or pepper needed. The zucchini was sliced in quarters and cooked so nicely, seared on all sides and salted. The coleslaw, unfortunately was not a hit. It had an off flavor that did not sit well with us and they took it away and replaced it with green beans, on their insistence. The service was GREAT, food AMAZING, and we will definitely make this place a regular stop whenever we're in Morehead City...
Read moreMy family and I went last night for dinner. There were 11 of us and was sat quickly. Then it all went down hill from there. I’m fairly sure that the server was a bit overwhelmed by the thought of having a table that large, but she was very sweet and did her best. We placed our drink orders and asked if they had kids menus. They were out. No big deal. She brought our drinks out. None of the kids got kids cups, including the 3 year old. We order 5 kids drinks, 4 adult drinks, 2 waters and 3 drinks from the bar. This will come into play later in the adventure. We place our orders and she brought our drinks from the bar. This is about the time that I notice water dripping from the ceiling into my grandmother’s tea. We let the server know and she got the manager. The manager came over and let us know that if we wanted to move we’d have to all sit separately or we could just stay there. No apologies. At this point grandma is not happy and decides she’s not staying if she can’t sit together and she wasn’t going to stay somewhere that didn’t give two flips if whatever was dripping from the ceiling got in the guests food and/or drinks. We ask for the bill and let the server know what’s going on. She brings the bill and it’s $40!! Ummm excuse me?! We called the manager over to explain the bill. She said that she took off 2 teas. But we were still being charged for 10 soft drinks. There were 11 of us. 11 minus 2 doesn’t equal 10. And two of us had only water. And also charged full price for kids drinks? The server was sweet. I feel like she did the best that she could to accommodate our large family and apologized profusely. The manager on the other hand was rude and unprofessional. I can’t not leave out that I made a point to tell her that I felt that way. I manage in a restaurant myself and could not imagine treating any of my guests as she treated my family. She followed me out the front door asking me over and over where...
