The first time I had the Birria it was soooo so good. It had great flavor, really tasted like it was cooked "low and slow". I ordered a Quesadilla with Birria as the meat, with a side of consume for dipping. I got it again yesterday (same exact order). Yesterday the beef just tasted like a plain chuck roast that was put in the crock-pot with a little bit of taco seasoning for a few hours (like how I make my taquitos/flautas at home). The beef didn't have very good flavor, it was thick and chunky, a little on the tougher side, and gave me a tunmmy ache later in the night :( The consume was pretty good both times, no complaints there. First experience was a 5, second experience was a 3, therefore I am averaging with a 4 for food. I usually do order pickup here through toast I think? and while its kind of hard to get my order wrong, as simple as it is, you'd be surprised how many times I've tried Uber Eats, DoorDash or GrubHub and there is always AT LEAST one issue with my order...however, El Rey has gotten it right every time and always has the salsas I request in the comments packed in with my food and all that so its a super easy pickup. Very grateful for that! They are very nice when I've walked in, so no qualms with the Service or Atmosphere at all. The food (specifically Birria) was the only thing that was hit or miss so far. I'm sure I will be...
Read moreI searched “tacos” and this was the first location that came up in the area. The customer service at the front counter was friendly, and she recommended taking advantage of their Taco Tuesday deal ($1.75/taco). In terms of drinks, I couldn’t pass on their Strawberries and Cream Agua Fresca, but they also had a melon drink, horchata, and Jamaica. They have a self-serve salsa bar where I was able to take their avocado salsa and green tomatillo salsa, along with some chips. One of their service staff brought the plate of tacos to the table I was sitting at, which had a fair amount of meat, onions, and cilantro on each taco. I’m happy to have another choice of dining when I’m in the area. I’ve had El Rey before in Wildomar, and it’s good to know that they have the same quality of food and high level of...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience. Ordered ahead for a 5pm pick up after work. The food was sitting on the counter right on time when I arrived which was great. But after I got home I realized that the flour tacos I ordered were corn street tacos. The beef was completely dried out, so they must have been setting for a while. Also, the portions of rice and beans were literally no more than two tablespoons each! I was shocked. The side of taquitos was decently garnished with guacamole and salsa etc. but the taquitos were severely over cooked and dried out. But worst of all, everything was stone cold. I simply cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone who actually enjoys Mexican food and knows what it should taste like. I guess I was spoiled in my old...
