Shoney's — Restaurant in Morgan City

Came here two weeks ago. I had gotten out of work in town (not from area) at 6pm and thought I would have some dinner after settling into my hotel. Well I was wrong, because whatever I ate here shouldn't even be called "food." I had the "breakfast for dinner" buffet - the eggs were runny, sausage was tough, French toast was bland, macaroni salad SOUR, and when I bit into a chicken drumstick it made a terrible sound as I bit it and fell into a ton of pieces and even worse...it didn't even taste like chicken. I can't even describe it. The only edible things on the buffet were the mashed potatoes, and the biscuit was alright but I didn't even want to put gravy on it because EVERY SINGLE LIQUID on the buffet had a thick film on it. I had to stir it...last I recall, I don't work here! Why am I the one tending the buffet, particularly while there are four employees on the floor doing who knows what? It was so bad I had a menu for another restaurant pulled up that I was debating ordering from, but unfortunately a combination of the volume of food consumed and how much it turned me off meant I had no more appetite. I could've at least gotten a decent chicken meal for the amount I spent here if I had just gone to Morgan's in the Clarion.

As for the staff, my waitress was friendly enough but spent most of the time sitting down talking to another couple nearby, asked if I wanted a refill while my glass was still mostly full, and then brought me the bill shortly after. $13.58 for a mostly inedible buffet and a single Diet Coke. The person who checked me out didn't say a single word to me - not "how was it," "how are you paying today," "hope you have a good night," - NOTHING.

I didn't exactly feel like causing a scene - I just wanted to go back to my hotel and relax, but if I had known upon calling the customer service line that I would've been offered "deals" in case I'm back in the area (won't be for awhile) and not a refund, I would have said something far sooner. It's my bad for not going up to the buffet to scope it out first. I suppose I'm glad I made this mistake because I was considering taking my mom to Shoney's when she visits (she was eager to visit because she remembers what it was like when it was still in its "$4.99 delicious breakfast buffet heyday"), but after that visit I realize that is no place you should take your mama to eat. She deserves better....

Absolutely loved the food, bar was hot and fresh. Servers were top notch, couldn't ask for better. Only reason for the -2 stars....? Whomever the manager was on 6/25 around 2pm was just too loud and not friendly to customers. We requested something from the waitress and she seemed afraid to ask the manager, told us to ask the manager. My wife asked asked about dark meat chicken at the bar and the manager went into a tantrum. WTH? But she brought it. This manager was all over the restaurant being louder than the customers making myself uncomfortable. The killer was after we paid and the waitress gave my wife's card BK the manager just came by our table and literally just stood there. I took a moment to acknowledge her just standing over us. I asked may we help you, she said she's waiting on the receipt. My wife asked "oh this must be the end of your shift" like what's the rush?! She walked off saying something about it's not her shift ending, loud and rude. IMO run your kitchen with a iron fist but not customers bc you ran us off. Again, the food was Amazing and servers were perfect but never going BK to this location of...

First time in Louisiana to begin with ! Heart ❤️ loved the state ,& towns .. never even heard of this restaurant so I stopped in to try something new .. horrible service... was dirty . Was to cold inside to where it's not comfortable to eat bring a sweater.. it was 1:30 and we seen buffet set out. We had no idea their buffet ends at 2 .. while we sat down with our first plate of food the kitchen staff starts pulling all food from the buffet so rood even the manager pulled food ! Very disappointed.. we were then told by the waiter thar they pull food at 2.. so she said Hurry and get another plate cause there pulling the food. Their was no need for more food.. the food was gross very cold food with no flavor no salt no seasoning.. chicken was raw.. pork chops was raw.. macaroni was over good very mushy and had no taste the sauce to Mac tasted like water . We immediately drank our tea and paid and went on our way .. .. all in all...
