Jamaican Spice WV — Restaurant in Morgantown

The food was amazing as always. We travel about 45 minutes from Pennsylvanis to eat from there.. Its worth the drive...Specifically this visit I was very disappointed. I called to order oxtails the gentlemen told me that they were sold out. So I ordered the curry chicken entree online and prepaid. Once we came to the restaurant, my boyfriend asked for oxtails, they said they were sold out, so he placed an order for jerk chicken. While we we're sitting waiting for our food, some customers that the workers clearly had relationships with placed an order and asked for oxtails. The lady paused and said it was sold out, the customer and worker started laughing. The customer did not switch up her order or ask for anything else which led us to believe she was getting her oxtail dinner because The worker then gave her a total and she paid for her dinner.. That was a slap in the face, especially since we traveled a distance just to eat from there spending over $50. But because of that action, we will no longer dine from there. I had heard great things about this restaurant so I had to check it out for myself. I got the red beans and rice, steamed cabbage and plantains but the best part was the service. I am a vegetarian and was treated by the owner to what was the tastiest vegetable pie is the only way I can describe it. It was wrapped in the most wonderful crust. She asked me if I wasn't sure I wanted something to drink and I said water so she handed me a bottle of water. This food is enough to really grab you but the service is above and beyond anything I have ever seen before. The service and the food is the most outstanding I have ever experienced here. I highly recommend giving this place a try. It tasted like homemade food my mom or grandma would make. I was beyond impressed in every way. The level of service and care for all customers I witnessed while I was there was outstanding. Don't let this seemingly hole in the wall restaurant fool you there's real food inside! What a pleasant surprise, this family owned restaurant is marvelous! The service is topnotch. We were in Morgantown for the day and looked up a caribbean restaurant hoping to get lucky, and boy were we in luck!

The food is done correctly!

Scrumptious and reminds you of a relatives Sunday dinner back home on the island.

We had oxtail, and the meat on the bones melted in your mouth as the flavors danced on your tongue and made your heart sing. We also got a jerk chicken to go and enjoyed it the next day. It was the perfect blend of heat and sweet to balance out the grilled chicken.

I hardly write reviews but this had to be written. If you don't eat here you are definitely not adding value to your life.

We tried to convince the cook to move to our hometown with her restaurant, but she wasn't having it. So, I guess we will be making hour drive to Morgantown to partake in this well made dish.
