This was our first time visiting Kavel's and they definitely upheld their 5 star rating.
We started off with the steak tips and gouda cheese for an appetizer. The steak tips were filet tender and the cheese sauce was outstanding.
For the main course, I had the pasta with blush sauce and grilled chicken, My husband had the filet, green beans and Parmesan risotto. The pasta was cooked to perfection the chicken was seasoned well and tender. I would prefer a stronger flavor to the blush sauce, yet would order again. My husband was so impressed with the parmesan risotto that he immediately thought of my daughter and bought her a gift certificate immediately. He doesn't usually rave about food and he absolutely loved the flavoring of the fillet.
Ben, the general manager, stopped by towards the end of the meal, sat down with us and we talked about the history of how the restaurant came to be, why he came on board and the staff that they brought on.
I was immediately impressed that the owners, the general manager and all staff had a say in everything from atmosphere, decor, menu items and what would make Kavel's memorable.
All of their food is cooked in house and locally sourced. One of their chefs is 19 years old and specializes in the most tender, flavorful steaks you've ever eaten. They encourage all of their chefs to be creative and sometimes the creations wind up being a featured special.
I cannot praise Kavel's enough. Everything from their values, inclusion of staff, their vision for the future and the outstanding food, is what has really impressed me. We will...
Read moreMy wife and I have been to Kavel's once for dinner and once for brunch. I'm glad we tried it out, because we've enjoyed it both times, especially the brunch. Our friend group has tried probably 10 different spots for brunch in Morgantown, and this was our favorite. The prices are reasonable for food and drinks. The food seems to be largely homemade, from the breakfast sausage to the sauce for the chicken sandwich, and was fresh and cooked to order. We thought the bacon and breakfast potatoes were the best we've foind in Morgantown. Portions are generous. The food all came out together for our party of 5, and it wasn't a long wait. We went on Sunday at noon and it was quiet, which was nice for atmosphere, but we hope they get busier and can stick around for a long time. The only minor ding for us was that our server didn't refill our drinks until they had been empty for a few minutes. But she was very pleasant and helpful overall and was knowledgeable about the menu. We're excited to go back and hopefully turn Kavel's into a regular brunch spot. Everyone should check it out! We also noticed they have theme nights for deals, though I failed to take a...
