HUNGER: as I was riding around on my motorcycle this fine day I felt the pain of hunger. It was time to find a place to stop and eat. Something small. Something local. ENTHUSIASM: As I pulled up I could feel my heart rate rise. Dave's Dawgs looked to be the exact local place I was looking for for a quick meal. I parked and entered with an eager inside. PREPARATION: I pulled off my glasses and pulled out my wallet as I quickly scanned the menu for what I wanted. Got it. Place has a few people here but nobody else in line. Nice decor, I wonder how the food will be. Two girls behind the counter. I pat my stomach and tell him to calm down, food was coming. CONFUSION: after looking me in the eyes, first girl makes her escape to the back. I tilt my face down and reassure my concerned stomach that this other girl must be our cashier. DISBELIEF: it's been nearly 5 minutes now and the remaining girl behind the counter finds yet another bin of the greenest relish that needs to be emptied by the tiniest of spoons before even acknowledging my existence. I hear my stomach roar in protest. He's ready to digest something...anything. MILD RELIEF FOLLOWED BY RISING ANGER: the first girl finally returns. Once again looks me in the eyes. Finally about to order. And then suddenly, without warning see returns her eyes forward on a perfectly executed pass by that fans the flames of hell boiling inside. SHOCK: after finally being acknowledged and having my order taken I discover I'm about to charged ballpark prices. I reluctantly turn over the cash and figure by this point I'm trapped on this horrible ride of emotion and feeling And any true man should endure. DISGUST: its turkey bacon on my sandwich. I repeat, Its turkey bacon on my mutha Effen sandwich. Those cheap bastards. The chicken was thin and ashy, and my fries were probably fried three separate times because I could eat softer bark off a tree. The thought of watching this place burn with staff locked inside flashed through my mind. I manage to smile amidst the anguish. REGRET: I walk out, sweaty, on edge, and feeling like I should have stopped elsewhere for sustenance. The two girls behind the counter fade away into memory. Not even a thank you or good day. NOBLE: I must warn others. They must know. Don't do it...
Read moreAfter a beautiful walk around town, my husband and I came here for a quick bite. Our beautiful day was quickly ruined by the blunt ignorance of a worker there. There was a mess up in the food order... No big deal... But she made it a HUGE deal by blaming us for the screw up. If it was a huge order with steak and shrimp then maybe she would have more of a reason to lash out on customers but it was a hotdog and fries. #1 we didnt even care... It wasn't a big deal we were going to take the order as is. #2 we're paying customers who never did anything to be treated in such a manner. #3 if you don't like working in the service industry then find a different job. I've been a server for many years and I would NEVER EVER talk to a customer the way this lady did!! We walked out... Even though we already paid AND TIPPED! Sorry she had a bad day but don't ever take it out on customers! We will never spend any of our money there again. PS thanks for ruining our wonderful day with...
Read moreSo this place tries to come off as an old school chicago hot dog place, and they do a halfway decent job of it. The reason I don't like Dave's Dawgs is because they are very pricey for food that is not that great. My wife and I ordered Ruebens and cheese fries. The corned beef on the ruebens was very dry and there was not much meat there to begin with, mostly just sauerkraut. The cheese fries were incredibly salty and greasy. My wife threw hers away after a few bites and I followed suit shortly after. For 2 sandwhiches and 2 fries it cost me $20.36. That is ridiculous to pay that much for tiny sandwhiches and salty greasy fries. I could have gotten more food and better fries from McDonalds for that amount of money. I will never return to this establishment because I feel like I got ripped off for poor...
