My husband and I went to Turtle Tap a few years ago, and the food was awful. After a couple of people telling us the food is good now, we decided to give it another try. BIG mistake!!! Food was terrible! We ordered our meals. The waitresses brought out our salads, and less than 5 minutes later, our food arrived. Didn't even get to finish our salads. Husband got a bacon wrapped cheese stick burger with onion rings. He informed the waitress no mayonnaise as it makes him sick. Well not only did mayonnaise come with the burger, but they also put ranch on his plate. (Doesn't eat that either) His burger was tasteless, and the mayonnaise and ranch made him loose husband appetite. I got the seafood combo. Which was fried cod, fried shrimp, and grilled shrimp. When my plate arrived, it was fried cod, fried shrimp, and fried shrimp with grill marks. There was no flavor on any of the sea food. It was blah! It tasted more like oil then seafood. The waitresses came by and asked how everything was. When I told her, she said, "Well at least you're honest. Guess you won't be coming back to Turtle Tap anytime soon." She apologized several times, but not once did she offer to tell a manager and take things off our bill. We also ordered chicken tenders to go for our daughter. Another disappointing meal. We spent $70 on JUNK!! That will never happen again. I only gave 1 star because you need it to write a review. Definitely would...
Read moreWell..it has been a couple rounds since I last reviewed Turtles tap. If I was basing the review just on service our last server was one of the better ones we have had, the food last round was meh. The appetizer was really greasy the cheese sticks were grease logged the corn nuggets were raw in the middle and the onion rings were the best item on the tray. Main course was a disappointment. My partner and I both ordered steaks , he got the king ribeye... medium I ordered the smokehouse ribeye medium rare and our daughter got the quesadilla. Hers was "fine" nothing to get excited over but tasty and cooked as expected. His king ribeye was slightly smaller than my smokehouse ribeye and cooked rare...cool pink/red center. Not being particularly picky and being pretty hungry he was gonna eat it unless it tried to eat him mine...came out blue rare. As in cold red center. Yup I'm that person. I sent it back. I got the same steak back now cooked (mostly) medium. Don't get me wrong I'm not against blue rare but when I'm paying for someone else to cook my steak I hope it's close the server was a champ through it all and I understood that it was not her it was the kitchen. However it was a disappointment after driving out almost an hour to visit Morris just for Turtles .. do better guys we...
Read moreBit pricy but you'll get what you're paying for. Like any other restaurants there're always in house deals.
Good spacing and arrangement. Customer service is great too (except for one that appeared to have a bad day, I thought for a second others are noticing that too. A friendly face when passing by tables always leaves better impression that looking at the floor, looking disturbed).
Didn't figure out if free wifi is available, saw few networks and tried connecting but wouldn't go through all the ways. Will sure visit this place again as Morris is good town with warm people, easy to approach and talk to. If you're visiting this town perhaps there aren't great many fun things to do but sure worth discovering the general culture and local businesses like Turtles Tap.
I especially like the vintage look with the kerosene lanterns deco hung on the wall, a barrel and few other things within this building. It is indeed a family friendly place as much as older populations I saw.
Service wait time could take longer however, surprising given fewer customers (3 Jan 2022 dinner). Just like any other business, there's always room for improvements but with my experience this place is already going amazing....
