2 of us Came from out of town to visit, and we decided to hit up karaoke for fun. We ran a bit behind, but our bad for assuming karaoke on a Saturday night would go until midnight. No big deal, we got there at 9:30pm and put both our songs in ASAP before doing anything else. A bit later, we noticed that only 1 of our names was on the screen. Having a popular name, I always put my last initial down (and being a host I completely understand that rotation is a thing and expected a long wait coming in the middle of a busy bar on Saturday night). We went up and asked the host if he missed my name. He points at the perfectly legible W. behind my first name and says "WHAT IS THIS?!" I just said "that's a W, I know there's a lot of Amy's sometimes so I always put my last initial. Sorry if it wasn't legible! Thank you so much!!" We saw our names moving up in the rotation, so we weren't concerned. Everybody was singing great! We were having a great time. At 10:55pm, my friends were outside, but I heard the host announce something about "and that's all we have time for". I was confused, so I asked my friend when she came in, and she said oh no he has gotta go until midnight there's still tons of people on the screen! I'm talking 20 more people, tons of them new singers. Nope, 3 songs later, he shut his system down with no other announcements. We were shocked. I will not be back. Karaoke is a passion of mine, and I've never seen a host behave so rudely let alone so unprofessional. At one point, I saw him yelling (with his hands even) at another guy seemingly asking him a question. This is not somebody I will support. I'm sorry for the bar. They seemed okay. Nachos didn't come with any sauce though, had to ask. Bartender was nice and friendly and felt bad about...
Read moreStopped in for lunch, but first had to enjoy some fun photo shoots on the outside wall—all of them were either funny or delightful. Once inside the cool interior (much appreciated on a hot day!), we were greeted, seated, and given menus right away by friendly waitstaff. We ordered some of the recommended food (fish tacos, shrimp tacos, patty melt on sourdough), and food for our picky eaters (hamburger tacos, chicken tenders, a basket of fries). We wandered around the place while we waited—the vibe and style are eye catching! From surfboards to guitars, vintage signs to unique electric liquor signs, pool tables to classic video games (which we were told are free, making my kids’ day!). There was plenty to look at, including several TVs. The hand-cut homemade fries came first, and even though they were too hot to handle, we couldn’t help digging into them, eating them with the fry sauce. Entrees came next, hot and delicious—the fish tacos with Rick’s tomatillo ranch sauce were super fresh and tasty (and I assume the other tacos were—they were chowed down), and the burgers and patty melt were generous, and delicious. (Be sure to ask for tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, etc.—they’ll make it like you want it!) The TVs provided a variety of options to entertain us (sports as well as Fear Factor), and the owner let me son play a guitar that was on the wall by the small stage. All in all, straight up 10 out of 10s for us, for the kind of place it is. We’ll...
Read moreI was looking for an alternative to moms and Pops since mom's and Pops food isn't what it used to be.
Rick's advertises that their biscuits and gravy are homemade. However, the biscuits didn't taste homemade, the texture wasn't homemade, and the flavor wasn't homemade. The biscuits tasted like every other mass-produced biscuit and were re-heated by way of microwave. The gravy, on the other hand, does look sort of like it was homemade or Dr'd up. The sausage in the gravy almost tasted like a maple breakfast sausage, which gave the gravy a sweet taste, which was off-putting.
The bacon strips had burnt ends and was pretty crunchy. The eggs were made to order, and I appreciate that the most. The hashbrowns weren't greasy and were cooked all the way through. Their coffee wasn't anything special. It didn't have a robust aroma or a decent taste.
The cook wasn't wearing gloves when preparing, ready to eat foods, and during the whole cooking process.
The place needs a lot of tlc, not enough employees to keep this place up to par with cleaning. The salad bar needs to be pressure washed and scrubbed. The owner needs to hire a chef and manager for daily activities so they can focus on rebranding the restaurant.
Unfortunately, I will not be going back to this...
