LOVED the food! Loved it SO much that I brought my husband after Crazy Terry brought me here. We stopped being friends after I told her that it was against the law of love to judge others when it isn't our job to do so, ESPECIALLY when it comes to YOUR DAUGHTER. Being bisexual MYSELF and from San Francisco, I KNOW 2 things GOOD FOOD and intolerance.
I preach acceptance now NOT just tolerance bc that's NOT enough. Love one another THAT is the law in SF where love rules supreme over all else! #FriscoKid
I don't know what it is, but the female server refused to serve us anymore. Maybe it was our convo about the fair fighting rules, or maybe it was my husband's wish that he was a REAL 100% Mexican who speaks fluent Spanish. [He is 50% Jaliscan 50%Chihuhuan after all.]
Either way, I swear she works at Safeway in the deli too. She is unmistakable with those high cheekbones, statuesque profile and her high top knot power bun. The shade, side eye, and spite in her eyes, the avoidance... Ew! Well, I get it. You don't have to like me/us. Idgaf! You will still accept my money here. Won't you?
I guess the owner will have to serve us since she makes us fetch our own boxes unlike last and 1st time when Terry was there with me and I felt welcomed.
Despite, this food will warm your belly AND YOUR SOUL if you open yourself up to it. This place is out of the way from downtown, but WORTH it. I cannot WAIT to try their pozole and or menudo as well as that Churro 🍨 ice cream and whipped cream thing that one boy was eating. Omg, it looked SO decadent. I got diabetes just looking at it. My husband had to rush me out and promise me, "Friday!" It's Saturday of...
Read moreLooks can be deceiving, the food really looked good until the first bite.
We were seated pretty quickly and the chips and dips arrived shortly after.
The cabbage dip didn't taste fresh, but more so a day old. The cabbage was wilted and there was no crunch. The red salsa was pretty good but lacked a tad of salt in my opinion as the chips lacked salt as well. The chips didn't taste homemade but more so of that from URM.
We didn't get water until we had to ask for it when the waiter came by to take our order.
The food looked great, but all around lacked flavor. The carne asada was a little more well done than medium rare. The meat itself lacked flavor as well.
The street taco meat was dry and lacked major flavor.
The rice was cooked with carrots, and I don't know what part of Mexico does this, but this was a first. The rice was definitely a day old, really dry.
Too many "Authentic Mexican," restaurants have lately been cutting the cilantro with the stock and that's just not authentic at all, and leaves an extremely overwhelming taste of cilantro that takes away flavor.
I wasn't offered any type of salsas for the street tacos and I didn't know that they come with salsa until I looked at others reviews before writing my own.
I don't remember what the Mexican restaurant, that was here several years ago, but this isn't the place.
If you haven't been to Maggie's, I suggest you give them a try before giving this...
Read moreStopped here instead of my usual go to Dairy Queen when trekking across the fine state of Washington. Figured we’d check out the endearing and charming roadside joint and see what the fuss was about. It did not disappoint. We expected a quick meal, and we’re a bit concerned when it was a full sit-down setup. But before we knew it, we were seated, snacking on complimentary chips, and our hearts and stomachs were ready for what was next. Chips were warm and crisp, salsa was the kinda hot that will melt your heart but not your mouth; a true but humble treat after hours in the car. We turned to the menu, inspired by the portraits making the place feel like home, and decided on the nachos; with time of the essence. The nachos were on our table before even the portraits could inspire another thought in our minds. The nachos were everything you could want, not only on a plate, but in life. Warm to the touch, balanced across the top, and genuine in approach. The nachos didn’t pretend to be something they’re not. They just wanted to be there for you, with you, a part of you. So, we went from let’s stop for a quick bite to get off the road, to having a transcendent experience. One that won’t just affect the remainder of our drive or even our evening, nay it’ll affect our lifetimes. We press on, with completely full stomachs and hearts, only one of which is unique to...
