I stopped by on the way back home to Mobile from Gulfport, from my very last visit with my dear Mother. I spent the day not eating and tending to her final needs and saying my final good byes. After my emotions settling down some, I decided some nice country comfort food was in order so we picked Cracker Barrel. More specifically, I wanted fried chicken, mashed potatoes and greens. We sat down and ordered our food. I ordered exactly what I came to order, Southern Fried Chicken. Making small talk and trying to forget the stresses of the day with my wife, about 20 or so minutes pass. The waitress returned and said they were out of the fried chicken I ordered and asked if I wanted something else. Disappointing as it was, I thought it's okay, something else will be fine. I picked their "chicken fried steak", same sides. About 3 minutes later, my wife's food arrived. She offered to wait, I said no, not needed, she should go ahead and eat. Another 20 MINUTES go by and the waitress brings their Chicken Fried Chicken meal. I said it's supposed to be chicken fried steak. She said "well we don't have chicken fried steak, we have Country Fried Steak, so because I said Chicken Fried Steak (you know, because I am from the south and didn't have their menu in front of me) and not "Country" fried steak, she assumed I meant chicken. She should have gotten a clarification. She did not. She instead, very rudely insisted that I screwed up the order. Because I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes, which would have been 60 total minutes, plus my wife was already almost done eating, I said I would accept and eat the chicken fried chicken, but I wanted the manager to take it off the bill since this is the second wrong order. She very snarkly said "they're not going to do that!!" That was my limit and we got up and walked out. I am positive they did in fact take it off the order. Along with the rest. Very disappointed and just kinda made the whole entire bad day, that much...
Read moreBad service. When we sat down, we waited at least 10 minutes for someone to come to our table to greet us and take our drink order. I asked our waitress a question about the kids menu which she didn’t know the answer of (she had 4 or 5 stars on her apron). The kid’s hot chocolate came in an adult mug and was sooo watered down and insipid. It was plain water with a tint of brown color. Our food came without the kid’s plate we ordered. We had to wait another 10 minutes for their food to come. They also sat us down without any silverware and had to wait forever to see someone to ask them to bring us silverware. Our waitress would rarely approach our table, in fact we had to ask the hostess for a Togo box and for silverware. The watermelon lemonade tasted like plain lemonade. There was no watermelon flavor whatsoever. And we had to wait forever for a refill on the lemonade even after asking twice for it. We also had to wait forever for biscuits. I had ordered biscuits and cornbread muffins from the moment they took our drink and food order, and they came like 10 minutes after our drink order (and just biscuits, no muffins). Another table came in after us and within minutes they had their drinks and bread on the table. We had three crying, hungry babies and still no drinks nor bread at our table. Service was tooo slow and awful. I used to wait on tables and one thing we always did was place the food far from a baby’s reach also, and these two waitresses just placed everything within the baby’s reach, including the hot chocolate, which annoyed me a little. It was a horrible experience. We only left a $4 tip but they honestly...
Read morei went online and ordered the meatloaf meal with my sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli , with added cheese sauce for my broccoli for an additional buck fifty nine. Thankfully the clerk asked me to check my bag to make sure everything was there. Well isn't that the job of the retaurant to do a quality check? I checked and the meatloaf was bone dry and so I looked for sauce on the side. There was none. The clerk was very helpful and called someone to bring sauce. She arrived looking none to happy and handed me what I thought would be a meatloaf tomato sauce, but it turned out to be plain tomato ketchup! Really! I paid 21 freaking dollars for the meatloaf dish and a 5 dollar take home and they give me ketchup which i can just pull out of my pantry. How unprofessional is that. No caring about their food, and to ask insult to injury they forgot my cheese sacuse so I had to pull a slice out of my fridge. I'm disgusted. This is the second time this place has not delivered a quality meal to me and I don't think I'll even try to get it right again. The only redeeming thing is that the meat loaf was still good, without the ketchup!
Update. Sorry. wrong about the meatloaf. When I took another bite there was something fibrous in the meat like they had added some kind of filler that wasn't ground beef , or just not quality ground beef. SMH..I should've just gone to New York pizza since I wanted a ground beef meal, just not a burger. Corporate will...
