Grandma Jo's Polkadot Cafe — Restaurant in Moundsville

I have bad food before but this was beyond bad. I wish I had taken pictures of the food. The chicken was greasy and over cooked. The oil in the fryer was way overdue for a change. The meatloaf was so dried out and was gritty. No ketchup or gravy on it. The mashed potatoes were the worst instant potatoes ever. Our table along the wall was leaning so bad I was wondering if our drinks would slide off. I normally can give mom & pop type places some leeway on “Home Cooking” but this was just terrible. Also a couple workers that may or may not have been off shift went from dining at the bar area to helping themselves behind the counter. Wasnt sure if they was working or their as patrons. No refills offered and they dont bring you a itemized bill. They just tell you the total owed so you dont know if what they charge you. Saddenly we...

my friends came in from out of town and we decided on the polka dot. when we initially went in, it was quite busy, but it eased up after 10 minutes are so. we were greeted and got our drinks and asked for another minute. that minute slowly turned into 45 minutes without being told anything. she was cleaning tables, but we also saw her simply filling ketchup bottles. by this point, we flagged her down and let her know when we were ready when she had a moment. she very rudely said “you can go up to the counter and order”. we waited about another five minutes at the counter before we left and went to bobs lunch next door. i am beyond disappointed with the service we got today. i am a waitress as well and understand the stress, but there were multiple times she a hundred percent could have stopped to take our order, but...

Not a bad place for a small mom and pop shop, and I think breakfast might be a better meal to enjoy here, but overall the place is just ok. I ordered the Reuben and Fries with a Pepsi (can) and the total came to $5.30, which is absolutely amazing - talk about a sweet deal. Now, the service was 3 folks; a guy on the grill (who seemed a little overwhelmed), a lady doing the hostess and waitress work and some bussing, and some guy that just walked around - kinda odd. The waitress was very nice and did a good job. I did see them cook some things in the microwave, which I am sure lots of restaurants do - but it might be better to put it in the back as I watched them pretty much cook someone's whole meal using the microwave.
