The only reason I recommend 3 out of 10 is because of the location and the cleanliness of the motel.
The experience was not so very pleasant. My group was having a supper in the dining area and some crazy teenagers just barged into the hotel. They were very lound and also harassing me and my family. One of the fat boy was literally threatening me and my wife for no reason (other than our skin color). There was nobody on the front desk to stop them. I was looking out for the receptionist but she very conveniently showed up right after those brats were out. I asked if this was normal and she told me that they were not supposed to enter the property. She then checked the back entrance and it was not even locking. This was a safety concern and was completely neglected. Unfortunately the staff is incapable to understand that some tourist also visit from places where they do not encounter racism on a daily basis.
Next morning, my group was at the breakfast at around 8:15 am and the food was already out. There were no breads, no bagels, no milk. I asked if those were going to be refilled but the staff member very conveniently told that the lady taking care of the breakfast was absent. It was very surprising because there is a Walmart right next to the motel like literally 1 minute walk but the management didn't seem to care about it. We paid for an unlimited breakfast for 6 and none of us got to eat anything much. We were all vegetarians so there is always very limited options for us but this time we didn't even have any options.

Read moreI rarely write reviews of hotel stays, but I felt called to do this one. I was expecting to have an "ok" experience at the Sleep Inn & Suites (Wheeling). But from the moment I walked in, when Barb at the front desk welcomed me, and even did that by name as if I had been especially expected. Barb was both professional and warm, and I felt glad that I'd chosen this hotel out of the several options for a last minute reservation. The room was clean and neat, the bed very comfortable (the pillows were especially nice), and the desk and table were good for the small amount of work I needed to do. I was staying there on my way home from a trip far north, and specifically stopped to break my trip there so I would be close to the Grave Creek Mound and Museum, and it was certainly convenient to that attraction, but if I'd had more time, the room also had a very well-done booklet with many local attractions I had not known about. This is a trip I need to take a couple times a year, and I now plan to stop again here every now and then to see some of the other attractions, and I will absolutely stay here again. And the reason I give 4 stars to the location is just something nobody can help, which is that it's a bit of an industrial area, so it's not like there's a stunning view, but I did not expect that, and it is not any reflection on the lovely people and hotel that I found inside. Again, I'd like to express my gratitude for the welcome and kindness of Barb at the front desk. She's a credit to the Choice...
