NOT ADA COMPLIANT OR HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE!
My husband really likes this place and asked to stop in while we were running errands. I cannot eat junk food so I wasn't going to get anything to eat but, just sit and wait for him. However, upon getting into my wheelchair and heading in, we were met with a ramp which is WAY too steep to be ADA compliant, which I never could have made it up without him pushing. At the top, I was scared for my safety at a platform MUCH too narrow and felt like a strong wind could have knocked me down the brick stairs. Inside, we found that the bathroom is not wheelchair accessible and I had to do a painful and awkward hopping action with the limited ability I have in one leg, while my husband closed the door and stood guard. After that horribly demoralizing encounter, a very friendly gentleman seated me in the middle of a walkway, which as any wheelchair user knows, is not safe nor comfortable. Our final straw was when a lady was mopping right next to people eating with a very strong cleaning chemical. Who in the world thinks it's okay to clean the floor while people are eating?! That's gross, unsanitary and downright bad business! I left immediately, but still had to deal with a headache from their strong cleaning product and my husband got his food to go. Staff were noticeably taken aback by our leaving but, I was already upset at how customers are treated here and had no desire to stick around to explain such basic decencies.
I will most certainly not be returning and my husband has accepted that this will be his...
Read moreThe service this diner is providing is horrible. I’ve never been discriminated against like this. I honestly can’t believe it. I opened the South star Diner PNC account when they first opened and the managers did not seem racist at all. The morning staff is extremely rude and disrespectful. I was rushed out and received rude service. I don’t like writing reviews because I rather video record. My girlfriend suggested we did but I hesitated because I just wanted to enjoy my breakfast. I honestly wish I did, you never know who you are speaking to. I came to this location twice this previous Saturday and Sunday and received the same discrimination. The cashier at the front and the elderly server are really rude. If you’re Caucasian I would suggest you going here as the service seemed outstanding for everyone but those of color. I have been living in this area for 5 years and have never been treated like this it’s a disappointment because I know the brothers that own this place are not training their servers and workers to be racist but the experience was to unbelievable not to write about. I would never return to this location. The food maybe okay but the discrimination is extremely sad it’s not 1930 anymore. Service like that can ruin your business and reputation but judging by some of the other comments I see discrimination is not anything new with...
Read moreI STRONGLY SUGGEST THIS PLACE I ordered from GrubHub last night. This is the first time I have ever ordered from this Diner. I have never gone to this diner to eat. I ordered two of my diner favorites; a Turkey Club on Whole Wheat Toast and French Onion Soup. I have to say that based on my previous experience in NEW JERSEY I was Skeptical but OMG what a GREAT surprise. Both the Turkey Club and French Onion Soup were EXCELLENT. The fries were GREAT as well. The Turkey was REAL Turkey - not processed Turkey and the FRENCH ONION SOUP had a 1/2 inch huge layer of cheese on top. I had to heat it up for 1 minute in the Microwave but it was PERFECT. The FRIES were RANCH fries not skinny little french fries.
If you pick your food up or eat there it is not an expensive meal. I was just too tired last night to make the drive so I did the GrubHub thing.
They also have CRAB IMPERIAL which I love. I'm from Baltimore so I am picky about my CRAB but based on last night I am going to give it a try next week. Let me know what you have tried and if it is as good as what I ordered last night. FINALLY I have a go to place for...
