So I came here because I was getting my nails done next door at Lush. I stopped in around 3 pm, I noticed they had an award for being voted the best in 2021. I came in and ordered Pepper Steak and a few items accompanied by my sister. First they messed our order up 2 times. We ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken for her husband and they gave us Teriyaki Chicken. Instead of correcting it and making the correct food and taking back the Teriyaki Chicken they just handed us, they insisted we take it. It's not what we ordered, why should we take it? But we don't like causing a fuss so we took it, and her husband liked it and ate it happily.
My sister had to go back in for soy sauce, and the sauce for the meals she ordered. Then when we checked the bag we noticed the new register employee forgot to ring up my sisters food and we had left. So I called and ordered again and waited 20 minutes, picked that up as well. When I got home I opened the pepper steak and noticed the "beef" was a weird color. It looked like boiled pork (the meat was gray and tinged pink), and I was so confused. In what world would beef look like boiled pork? In what kind of restaurant would Pepper Steak have pork substituted?
This matters because I'm a very visible Muslim woman, and I do not expect people to know what I can and can't eat. But Muslims do not eat pork. So I had my sister and her husband who are not Muslim try it, and they said it was most definitely pork. I feel very very disappointed that someone would switch the beef for pork in the food I ordered. I don't know why someone would do that.
I did enjoy the vegetable fried rice and the egg drop soup. But I wouldn't recommend going especially if they do things like what they did to my food. Food is sacred, it's what we need to survive and the fact that they did that to my food for whatever reason is reason enough to never return. The worst part was I'm visiting Jersey for the first time, and I never got to have East Coast Chinese food before. It left a very sour taste in my heart during the last few days of my trip.
I hope...
Read moreI usually go to Lim Fongs. As I always liked their food for a very long time, like 30 40 years, but I ordered a large wonton soup because I was not feeling well. I did eat three dumplings and half of the broth. But it didn't taste right. The next day I threw up not once but twice. Not putting all of the blame on them , just saying it tasted funny, and there are five or six people in front of me when I ordered. They had my order in 2 minutes very fast. I looked around the room and people were looking at me like I was something special, cuz I got my food right away, which was excellent timing. Obviously it was already made and all they had to do is dump it in a plastic container ., I didn't have anything else to eat but that. How it could have been something with the meat inside the dumplings. Otherwise I can honestly say I don't go to another Chinese restaurant except for them. It could have been something else I had a reaction to. Oils from The Dumpling meat probably didn't agree with my stomach. No way take this offensively because it could have been the oil and I don't want to give them a bad rap, cuz their food is usually really good, it just didn't agree with me for...
Read moreI've been coming here for years on and off and the quality of food has never changed. It has cornerstore restaurant vibes, but the food is in another league. Everything from the sauce tasting authentic & not like every other generic place to the egg rolls having something special to them. I'd come here way more often if I lived closer [it's about an hour from me], but when I'm in the area this is 100% my go to.
It's the only Chinese restaurant I've ever seen that offers lunch specials EVERYDAY, and for someone like me who doesn't necessarily want a massive meal... that's huge.
I've had birthdays at Chinese restaurants as long as I can remember, I used to work at PF Changs, and this is still one of my absolute favorites.
I'm a white meat chicken only type of guy and when I found out the lunch special was made with dark meat vs. the white meat I love, they made it right without hesitation.
I'll be back and will never stop coming as long as I'm...
