We're locals who had been watching the renovations in the building over the past few months with interest, and we decided to go in the first Friday after opening to check it out. Normally, I expect there to be a few bumps at a brand new restaurant as they figure things out, which is why I was utterly shocked by how excellent our experience was.
First, and this might seem like a minor detail, but the chairs were far more comfortable than cheaper options many restaurants have been going with these days, and the atmosphere was quiet but comfortable. I do expect that to change as more people become aware of the place, but it made for a wonderfully comfortable atmosphere with my family. Our server was friendly, knowledgable on the wine list, and very attentive. We never were waiting a noticeable amount of time on water and the pacing between the appetizers and the entrees coming out to the table was just right.
But, most importantly, the food was absolutely excellent. We ordered the crab dip and charcuterie board for starters, and while the charcuterie was quite good, that was, bar none, the best crab dip I have ever had. I could return and have just that as my meal and walk away satisfied. For the main course, our party ordered the filet mignon, the roasted chicken, the mushroom pasta, and the ribeye--and every single dish was perfectly seasoned and excellently prepared. Not only that, but the side dishes are fantastic as well. The addition of the pastry to the top of the twice baked potato was excellent--the only "ding" I would give to anything that I ate this evening was that the potatoes themselves were slightly bland and could have done with a little more depth of flavor, but the overall result was still very satisfying. And the roasted root vegetables were another stand out! The carrots and the parsnips in particular had and incredible texture and flavor to them. For dessert, we had the Creme Brulee and Lemon Tart, and while both were excellent, the Lemon Tart was a home run. It was incredibly fresh, tart, and the perfect summer dessert.
Overall, I am pleasantly--delightedly, even--shocked by the quality of our meal and we will most certainly be coming back as often as our wallets can take it. I do hope the menu expands a little bit as they grow more established, but it is a fantastic addition to Mount Holly. Looking forward to many more...
Read moreWe hosted our best friends engagement party at The Holland in beautiful downtown Mt. Holly and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we stepped into the venue, we were struck by its charm and elegance. Every detail, from the tasteful decor to the inviting ambiance, created a perfect backdrop for our celebration.
Phan, the owner, went above and beyond to ensure that our event was a success. Her warm demeanor and attention to detail made the planning process seamless. She was incredibly accommodating, addressing all our needs and preferences with genuine enthusiasm. It felt like we were working with a friend rather than just a business owner.
The chef, truly impressed us with his culinary skills. The menu was thoughtfully curated, featuring a range of delicious options that catered to all our guests' tastes. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, leaving our friends and family raving about the food long after the party ended.
The bartending staff also deserves a special mention. They were not only skilled at mixing drinks but also incredibly friendly and attentive. We loved how they allowed us to create custom drink specials for the engagement party, adding a personal touch that made the day even more special. It was great to see our guests enjoying their cocktails, and the bartenders were eager to recommend their favorites.
Overall, The Holland provided a stunning venue and an exceptional team that made our engagement party truly memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a significant milestone in our besties lives. With their accommodating staff and beautiful setting, we are excited to host many more events here in the future. If you're looking for a venue that combines excellent service, delicious food, and a beautiful atmosphere, look no further than...
Read moreI've had a good streak of luck choosing new & local restaurants to try out and loving the experiences. Unfortunately my streak has ended with The Holland. Sat at the bar where my GF ordered the The Holland burger. I ordered the Wild Mushroom Angel Pasta. As an appetizer, we ordered the Burrata & Heirloom Tomato. While we waited for our food, we were not served water until we had to ask for it. The bartender does not know how properly pour or mix drinks well. For their pricing on their cocktails, I would expect at least decent knowledge on how to mix a proper cocktail. Not the best but fine. Finally the food arrives and they bring out our appetizer at the same time as our entrees. This is a personal pet-peeve of mine as it demonstrates lack of timing & disorganized. We quickly ate our burrata so that we can get to entrees before they cold. (BTW burrata was ok: not terrible but I've had much better.) The burger was nothing special either. My GF didn't enjoy it. As for my pasta: the flavor was just ok. I expected there to be some mushrooms in my pasta obviously, not for the dish to literally be overtaken with mushrooms with Angel Hair Pasta dripped on. Might as well be called Mushroom Slop with pasta on the side. Some may enjoy this dish but I did not. It's not that the food was terrible but it wasn't good either. You dont get the gold star for mediocre or passable, not for the prices The Holland charges. I could get better quality food & drinks for cheaper prices just in Belmont or even across the street at...
