Not sure where to start on this one and to be honest Iām utterly confused. For ownership and management who have years in the restaurant industry stemming from the locally famous Dolsot House on Route 70 in Cherry Hill, the experience they deliver to patrons of this establishment seems dismal.
That atmosphere and design of the restaurant is great. The hostess is nice, the place looks clean, and smells clean as any new restaurant should. However if you expecting to have great service, great tasting food especially for the price your paying here expect to be disappointed.
Our experience started off great we were sat instantly at 6:30 on a Friday night. Waiter came over within a few minutes, took our drink and appetizer orders and it all went down hill from there.
Iām talking about there was only 3 of us and you would have thought we had a party of 10 or more. First we had missing drink that didnāt show up until about 25-30 minutes into the service. We order some appetizers which consisted of pork dumplings and advocado bomb. The dumplings were a no show.
Additionally we order 2 Las Vegas sushi rolls for the table. They were great the. For entrees we order 2 bulgogi bushut jungol at $52 each and the marinated Dolsan Kalbi at $47. The bulgogi jungols never arrived instead BOODAE JUNGOL arrived, we told the busier this wasnāt our order and he said heāll let the waiter no but left it out the table turning on the burners for the casserole so they could boil. 5 minutes later the waiter arrives and we tell him the order was incorrect. He acknowledges the error, turns the burners off, and disappears leaving the wrong food at our table.
For 30 minutes other employees walk by multiple times and we are confused trying to understand wheather or not the correct food was going to come out or not. Eventually the hostess stops by and ask if everything is ok and we explained what was happening and she must have spoke to the manager who came over a few minutes later and we had to explain the situation again.
Once he saw the food was totally incorrect he immediately admitted it and removed them from the table, then the waiter shows back up to assist him. At this point we had no interest in continuing to wait for the correct food and neither did our waiter go to the kitchen to ensure it was being mad. As he already had abandoned us for 30 minutes at that point.
To add insult to injury even our check was wrong with items we never recieved on it like the missing drink that later showed and was still wrong and the missing dumplings.
Eventually after 2 more attempts we got the checked corrected, left a tip and left.
We left confused about what we just experienced. Then we proceeded to go to five guys burgers just to get the bad vibes of this experience off of us.
Btw the kalbi steak was probably one of the most chewy pieces of steak I ever had. There were maybe 1/8ā thick by 2ā long pieces of chewy steak on a plate with sauce and a large fatty bone in the middle. Iām still confused about what I was served.
Besides the sushi and advocado bomb being good despite being drenched with sauce. Iām not sure I would ever come back to this location.
Stick to the regular Dolsot house, where you will have better food and experience and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: restaurant says this was inaccurate and I was looking for free food when the server and the manager themselves took the plates RIGHT AWAY from us as soon as they saw the hair on my plate. Should've took a picture so I could post it here as proof. The only thing I was looking for was good, clean food and nice service. Which is hard to find at this restaurant and can be supported by other reviews saying they got food poisoning from here!*
FOUND HAIR IN MY FOOD!!!!! MOST DISAPPOINTING DINING EXPERIENCE EVER I rarely write bad reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience at this Korean BBQ restaurant because it was EXTREMELY disappointing. It was my first time visiting, and I chose this spot based on the excellent recommendations in the Cherry Hill Facebook group. I was excited to try it, especially since Iāve been searching for a great Korean BBQ spot ever since moving to South Jersey.
We visited on Friday, January 17, 2025, a little after 7 PM. Without a reservation, we had a short waitāabout 15 minutes for a BBQ table āwhich was totally fine, especially on a Friday night!
Once seated, things quickly went downhill. Within five minutes, a server took our drink order, and the canned sodas arrived promptly. But after that, we were completely ignored. No one came to take our food order. The server who brought our drinks disappeared, and the server attending the table next to us didnāt acknowledge us at all. After patiently waiting 20 minutes, I finally called him over to ask if he could please take our order or get the original server. He seemed confused but took our order himself.
We ordered Korean fried rice, shumai, pork belly, and Wagyu steak. A food runnerānot the serverābrought the raw meat, shumai, and fried rice to the table but didnāt turn on the grill. Having been to other Korean BBQ restaurants, we expected the grill to be heated before the meat was brought out. We waited another 10 minutes before having to call the server to ask what we were supposed to do. He turned the grill on, and we waited another couple minutes for it to heat up before he started cooking the pork belly first. By this point, we had already eaten the Korean fried rice because we were starving, and I had to ask the server if he could please bring the white rice that come with the meat and said he was going to bring when he took our order.
The server cooked the pork belly and then the Wagyu steak, dividing it between me and my partner. Halfway through eating the pork belly, I found a thick, short HAIR IN THE WAGYU STEAK on my plate. Absolutely disgusted, I called the server over, and he took the plate away. A few minutes later, the manager came to apologize and offered a discount.
The service was extremely slow and inattentive. We had to flag down the staff repeatedly to get basic service. And finding a hair in the food? Completely unsanitary and unacceptable. I later noticed another review mentioning people getting sick from the foodānow I understand why.
I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT and wouldnāt recommend it to anyone. This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlmost anxious to post an honest review, based on owner's responses to other reviewers and how combative some of the servers were when we provided feedback while dining. Nonetheless, the forum is to provide one's own opinion so.. starting with the good, the atmosphere is gorgeous! "Dol" means stone and "San" means mountain. The decor was aptly suited for the namesake. I especially loved the lighting that made me feel like i was floating is soft fog high atop a mountain. I was greeted warmly and kindly at entry.
Unfortunate that this about sums up the good. Originally from Northern NJ with high population of Korean demographic, I've dined in Flushing NY, Koreatown LA, Centreville VA on several occasions. Backing my credibility for a Korean dining experience and also the fact that I am Korean American. Quick summation is that this is an overpriced place that was nice to try once but probably won't go back. They pride themselves on the quality of meat, then overcook the meat at the table with no grill skill. We tried to take over a few times just for the server to come and take the grilling tools away from us and lower the heat every time they had to tend to the next table. (For the table next to us, their meat was so overcooked that they became sadly shriveled morsels) We even asked for them to leave us and to grill our own meats. This is traditional Korean BBQing. The 1st server walked away and was replaced by 2 aggressive male servers. They basically manned our grill so we could not place or turn meat. I told them that if they keep moving the meat when stuck to the grill and stabbing it with the metal tongs, then it will make the meat dry out, I was told this is how you do it a d they proceeded to do just that. That prized meat was never known to us. The service was so slow that our rice was done before even half the meat was cooked. EVERYTHING is charged! We ordered the Combo C. The whole point of Korean BBQ is to wrap in lettuce with samjjang, scallion salad, and rice. Imagine our surprise when we learned that there is an uncharge for lettuce and samjjang, another uncharge for more scallion salad and while a charge for rice is not too surprising, the amount for it is. For the amount of money you are paying, it's clear they are catering to the Americanized "gram" foodies that want to post about their worldly upscale experiences more than enjoy a high quality traditional Korean BBQ meal. Glad I tried once so I know I probably won't be back. Not too many Korean restaurants around without having to go back North or travel to Philadelphia so glad to have the option around and wish them luck and/or to come to their senses so they...
