I hate to say this because the people ended up being very nice but I have to be honest since I rely on reviews to decide on new places to try.
I'd Googled soul food places and was happy to see their reviews from months ago so decided to try them out. I called and noone answered so I checked online & it said they'd been closed for renovations but should have been reopened. I called again & noone answered, about 10 mins later I was getting ready to head out from work and tried one more time. The phone was answered and a man & woman were screaming at eachother about someone needing to answer the phone. I literally thought I'd called someone's house vs a restaurant. I said to the woman I'd like to order she screamed it to a guy in the background then he came on the phone. I placed order, was told 20 mins, I came closer to 30 because I was in an Uber & wanted to make sure it was ready. Oddly the flavor of the mac n cheese was good when I tasted a piece there, eventhough it didn't look like the typical melty, cheesy, buttery baked mac n cheese. Later I found it ended up being kind of chewy with a pasty texture. I have both made & ordered mac many times & reheated without it drying out (if anything it becomes melty cheesier) so the microwaving wasn't the issue. I think it was just old and had been sitting out for a long time.
The greens were fine, the chicken was on the darker side, looked nothing like the pic from another review i.e. the fry or size. The seasoning was good, the chicken wasn't great. For the cost of $20 & change for a 6piece chicken & 2 sides & for the food not to be fresh and chicken juicy I was very disappointed. I'm not sure if they changed recipes, the cook or the products since the previous reviews were done but unfortunately it was not good. I honestly hope they get back to whatever they were doing to get the raving reviews they'd received because I'd really like to try them again...
Read moreThe food was good, don’t get me wrong but the service and attitude weren’t! The order wasn’t properly prepared, never got the greens, only one order of wings were dropped instead of 2 and this didn’t seem to be a problem for the people working. Good food alone doesn’t go over well you have to care about the service you provide people! If you don’t care to understand how to device people then people won’t want to support your business!
So your justifying the actions? Free food for an original 70 dollar order is nothing, I can bake my own sweet potato pie! But the nonchalant attitude, and under staffing if you're the owner then you should know to drop your food 10 wings half way thru the fish. You dropped 5 wings 45 mins or not you said food was being bagged and ready to go but didn't have the whole order. Bad day or not no one was going to tell me my order wasn't complete and I was told to wait for chicken that should have already been dropped. Training, business plans and execution go hand in hand with customer service! Thank you for admitting that I didn't fabricate my experience, but don't try to down...
Read moreI returned back to this place because the first time I had it, the food was great. The chicken was not seasoned well but the fish and sides was great. This time I brought my friend along with me and it was horrible. The macNcheese was dry and hard. Like it’s been sitting for hours. But I believe it was because the cook put my sides in a microwave to warm up. So that means it wasn’t fresh. No salt and very peppery. ChicFilA macNcheese tasted better than what they gave me.The yams was okay, very mushy and too much nutmeg. They was going to put a small piece of fish on my plate until I asked them why am I paying $25 for 1 small piece of fish that looked like a cat fish nugget. They did add another piece once they seen what I was talking about. They ran out of filets and gave my friend small nuggets. it’s already enough that it’s not a lot of black own soul food places but this place doesn’t give consistency at all. It’s a hit and miss and they charge a lot but the price isn’t worth it. I...
