This restaurant was excellent. As I approached the front door, one of the servers coming in sprinted to open both doors in order to be polite. II was immediately seated in the area of my choice, farthermost away from the bar, where I smelled no smoke because I asked to sit where I would most likely not be bothered by unruly children. I am concerned by some of the previous reviews here, and must question whether or not they were written by responsible diners eating inside the restaurant, or by multiple someones with a grudge, because I eat at many different Applebee's restaurants in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area, and when traveling elsewhere, but mostly I dine at Applebee's in Mt. Pleasant because it is my hometown, and in each experience, the Mt. Pleasant Applebee's has measured up to, or surpassed experiences in other Applebee's in other towns, without fail. The manager walks around and checks with the customers, and the time to complain would be when he approaches your table, and have your 'problem' fixed on the spot. As a frequent traveler, and as a person who likes to write reviews, I have found that it's usually only the unhappy diners who take time to write a review. I suspect that for each negative review, there are thousands of happy customers who forget to leave a positive review because they are busy having fun after having a great meal. I can always depend on the steaks, but I really like the variety offered on the menu, and especially when they offer new and unusual versions. If I could change anything, I might add more options for fish and seafood, a huge chef salad, and bigger baked potatoes. I usually have the Chicken Won Ton tacos because they are crisp, refreshing, and different, and with 4 tacos on an appetizer plate, they make a great small meal. They have some new items for people on a 'healthy' diet, including a pepper steak that is served on spinach and whole grains, that fit right in with my desire for a healthier lifestyle, so I tried it, and enjoyed it very much. If you go to any restaurant, you are likely to have to wait during their busiest hours, so if you are anxious or in a hurry, go about 11:00 am,, or 2:30 - 4:30 pm for speedy service. If you are getting take-out food, look inside your bag, or ask the waiter to double-check your condiments and special requests before you exit. If you are open-minded about newer waitstaff making mistakes, be proactive in making sure your order is what you want, and do your complaining inside the restaurant, not behind a computer screen where the staff has no opportunity to correct a mistake or make you happy. If you are worried that you won't have a great experience, ask to be seated with one ot their experienced waiters or waitresses, who would be less likely to make a mistake, so you will have a good experience. If you have a bad experience, don't just complain, but offer suggestions on how improvements can be made. Since it seems these reviews aren't monitored, ....... remember that anyone can post on here, just like I am doing now! Give it a try! Tell them you have seen negative reviews and that you want to give it your own experience! You won't be sorry! This restaurant has evolved into a great place to get a yummy, tasty, meal. (I don't work for this place, don't have friends there, nor do I have any reason for such a long review, but I do believe the reviews I see here are from long ago, are terribly unfair, and I hope newer clientele will leave some more appropriate recent up-to-date reviews. ...
Read moreI really didn't want to write this review because the General Manager took care of us personally. That is the reason I am giving this place 3 stars.
On this day, my daughter, my sister, my sister's baby, and I went to an appointment for my oldest daughter. She is pregnant with her first child and so this was a joyous occasion. We live in New Boston, TX and this restaurant is in Mount Pleasant, TX. After my daughter's doctor appointment, I offered to take everyone out to lunch. I pulled up to Applebee's in Mount Pleasant and my daughter went inside to get the menus. We looked at the menus and decided what our order would be. I called the restaurant to place the order on the phone. I repeated the order several times and asked the gentleman to repeat the order back to me. I asked him how long it would take to complete our order. The gentleman said 15 to 20 minutes. We pulled out of the parking lot and went to the Exxon right in front of Applebee's. We returned to the store and waited another 10 minutes and then my daughter went inside to pay for and pick up the food. My daughter came out of the restaurant and told me that the order was not ready and that the bartender who took my order forgot to submit the order. To make matters worse, he tried to flirt with my daughter and blow the whole thing off. My daughter advised him that I would not be happy with what occurred but he just blew her off.
At first we waited for about 12 minutes and then I decided to call and ask to speak to the manager. I spoke to the manager and she apologized for the long wait but didn't seem to have anything else to say. At this point we had been waiting 55 minutes. I got out of the van and went inside to speak with the general manager. After looking at the receipt, I found that I was overcharged and we had waited nearly an hour and had yet to receive any food. We spoke to the general manager and he resolved everything.
If it hadn't been for the bartender not forgetting to submit our order, this may have been a great experience. This foolishness caused us to wait for our food for three times the normal wait time. My daughter didn't even want to eat there after this experience and she was the person who originally wanted to eat there more than anyone else.
As I said before, the General Manager took care of us but the damage had...
Read moreUnfortunately , as much as I wanted to give the place the benefit of the doubt. Against my better judgment, I returned after saying I would never...last time I went the food came out cold and every plate was 20 minutes apart. Well, this was no exception. When we got there ,we seemed to be headed in the right direction... was seated almost right away...great!! Wasn't shortly after that we ordered drinks, nice!! 20 minutes later our waitress walks by our table and sees us and says, " oh!! They're still making your drinks!..." 1 water, 1 lemonade 1 sprite. I say ok, no problem...5 minutes later here comes the drinks. My lemonade was water with a lemon squeeze..clearly not LEMONADE...OK NO WORRIES...I kindly just ask for water because that makes me realize they don't have lemonade. No biggie...then 2 of our 3 plate come out (burgers w/fries) ...my meat was raw.... I tried to eat it...but it was just too much...I asked our waitress for our silverware and napkins..which we should have had on our table when we got there, but ok... well... when our 3rd dish came out about 35 minutes later I was upset ....one dish was finished, one raw and un eaten a last person left to eat alone...I ask for a to go plate for the last dish and kindly spoke to our waitress telling her how disappointed I was in our visit there. She had mentioned that they were busy...this and that...but truth is they dropped the ball from the very beginning and all night. Maybe I was that one.. but I really don't think so with our previous history. So needless to say, we won't be going back . Which sucks because our town has nothing and nowhere to eat...so we are limited. But, you live and learn, I guess. Hopefully that establishment can pull it together. I don't care how busy or how this or that... good service is in the little things like promt drinks, napkins, silverware, quick table visits to check on the customers.... change is inevitable, growth...
