I took 2 of my sons to have a Sunday lunch while another son was out sailing. The hostess was great & smiled the whole time she was showing us our booth. The waitress was helpful but a lil confusing. I guess when she offered us water, and we accepted, that's the only drink we were going to get. No complaints since I should be drinking more water anyways. Our meals were good. My crabcake sandwich was large, but too much bread was used. It was falling apart & too soggy. Thankfully the flavor was good! Overall, we did enjoy our visit. ☆ Disability warning- if you need to use the bathroom, you must leave the restaurant, walk down a long covered walkway outside, past the marina shop to get to the outside bathrooms. If I was still in a wheelchair, I would have had a difficult time here. I wouldn't let young children go by themselves either. Otherwise, the place is perfect for couples. The views are amazing, the interior decor is open and full of natural light. It's a great place to enjoy a meal at. A nice surprise to my 7 year old was a ice cream sandwich that came with his meal. Their kids menu had a great selection for every type of picky eater out there. We will return next week and try some more items on the menu.
We returned again on a Sunday (October 7, 2018) at 11:30am for lunch. Guess they had a big brunch going on earlier in a separate section. The kitchen was very, very slow (50 minutes) in getting 4 adults & 1 kid meal prepared and there was only 1 other table occupied for lunch. Wife's salad wasn't washed & was very sandy. She enjoyed the crabcake sandwich. My kids enjoyed the Tuna Melt, Fried Shrimp. So besides the 50 minute wait, the food was pretty good. I just wish they had a larger menu, because now after 2 visits, there isn't anything else on the menu we want to try. But the views & the fact one of my son is in the Wando High School sailing club & this marina is where they practice at... we may return...
Read moreFood was delicious--when we finally got it--which earned the two stars.
We were seated promptly, then waited going on ten minutes before a server stopped by to tell us she'd be right with us. Another 5-7 minutes, she was "right with us". We were very close to leaving, but we were starving and at this point it was going on 9:00 PM.
She took our drink orders, mine specifically was a glass of pinot grigio, which noted on the menu was priced at $12/$50. Several minutes later she came back to say that wine was not available by the glass, only the bottle. What???
So, I ordered the glass, reluctantly....as their choices were not extensive--even for a "resort" restaurant.
Dinner finally was served--about 40+ minutes after we were sat. They were NOT busy, but now it's 9:20ish pm.....Minutes after getting our entrees, she was back to ask if we were thinking about dessert. The rest of the staff around were busily cleaning up their tables, etc., obviously getting ready to shut the place down for the night--as was our server. She tried to take plates we were still working on more than twice.
Then as we sharing a dessert, one of the busboys came by and started clearing our entire table!! WHAT?? You get the picture.
THEN the check comes. Those glasses of wine at $12/$50 were actually $14 a piece....which unfortunately, I didn't look at closely enough until the next day. We were so stressed about getting out of an establishment where we clearly were not welcomed, I just bother with all the details. The tip, while not zero (should have been) noted our displeasure.
And to add to the story, thus this review, I've called several times to speak to the manager(s), and left a vmail on the General Manager's phone with NO response. Never thought I'd encounter this type of behavior and service in South Carolina, especially...
Read moreSAVE YOUR MONEY. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. POOR SERVICE. MEDIOCRE FOOD. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN SOUTH CAROLINA. We have been going to the Fish House for several years, for the view and not the food. This time was our 20th wedding anniversary. We booked the hightop table a week in advance, and called to verify the day before. We arrived on time, right before our 5.30pm reservation. The reservation says it was for a high top. It specifically says in the notes it was our 20th wedding anniversary. When we arrived at the restaurant, our table had been given to someone else, who was originally sitting at the bar and asked to move to the table we had reserved. We were told they were able to do that because they were locals. That should make no difference at all, and for what it's worth, we are locals too! The host, Brandon, told us we were out of luck and if we wanted we could wait for them to finish their meal (they were just seated). He then said that WE could approach the table and ask them to move if we wanted to. Ridiculous! The restaurant made no apologies and completely threw our wedding anniversary out of the window. They were rude, unapologetic, and unappreciative of our past loyalty. We asked to speak to a manager. We were told the manager was in a meeting, so we would have to wait. We waited, still no manager. We ended up leaving, and asked the manager to call. Still no phone call. We had arrived by boat, so had no ability to just leave and go somewhere else. Thanks fish house, for ruining our night. We have been going there for anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, and reunions. I bring groups of clients to stay at the hotel and entertain them in the restaurant, (for the views, not the food)....
