My son was turning 18 this week, and I was in from out of town. His mom, stepdad and I all took him out for dinner with his young siblings, and they said this new place was fantastic. Theyād been there before, and wanted to go back. We had a party of seven.
The atmosphere was great, the wine selection was fantastic, and the staff were all friendly, every single one of them.
The bar area looked awesome, the wall of wine was fun to read bottles and pick what I wanted, and the garage door/live entertainment section up front was a nice vibe. (There was no one playing this night)
The only complaint I have about anything is we arrived at 6:50 PM on a Thursday and were told by the hostess āit will be a few minutes, but youāll be texted when weāre ready with your table.ā
We were seated one hour later.
We asked her several times for updates, but there was no communication besides āweāre working on getting people seated ahead of you.ā
We noticed. While some people had reservations (one party as large as 8), we watched three parties of 3-5 ppl enter and be seated before us that didnāt have reservations. I know this because I either asked or one asked me if there was a line to wait in when they arrived.
This was frustrating to watch. Perhaps it was the younger children we had, or just a lack of staff to handle a larger table, but between seeing empty tables everywhere, and newcomers being seated first, then having to wait in hot/humid weather was draining on us, especially with three little ones.
There was no communication initiated for that hour, no offer to sit in the bar area, and no apology for the wait, ever. I think this was just an oversight, but itās noticeable when youāre sitting outside in 90° humidity for an hour.
When we were seated, the waiter Sam was AMAZING. Heād look you in the eye, intently listen to what you were ordering, write everything down, repeat it back to you, and managed to keep our regular drinks filled. I canāt ask for anything more.
When it all finally arrived the medium rare steak was great, my sonās burger was fantastic (although the kitchen missed the signature aioli, and it had to be retrieved by our waiter Sam). The Malbec wine was fantastic and lightly chilled. They know their wine.
The food did take a long time⦠our apps were completely gone and weād gone through two rounds of drinks before it arrived. As a result we were the last party remaining by closing time, having to pack up our food and leave by 9-9:10. Again, this could have been due to staffing issues, and Rancho Secoās reputation has been great beforehand. But this night there was something wrong behind the walls; the staff did their best to overcome it.
Sam deserves kudos for handling tables in two different rooms, but always coming back to make sure we were ok. I shook his hand and thanked him after.
All I can say is HAVE A RESERVATION, no matter the day of the week, or if the parking lot is half empty. š But itās a great addition to Mount Pleasant, and raises the stakes for fine dining...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRancho Seco Steakhouse is a great addition and nice change in the local cuisine of Mount Pleasant.
The restaurant itself is clean with a nice rustic vibe.
Our server was attentive, friendly, and efficient.
Menu looks to have taken inspiration from Mexican cuisine which elevates the food and makes it unique.
We began with the chicharron with guacamole as a starter. A real Guadalajara Mexico starter for sure
The chicharron was crispy and golden brown along with fresh guacamole š„ this was priced at 9 dollars.
I ordered the ribeye cooked at a medium temperature and it was perfectly cooked. The butter was seasoned butter with what I think was paprika and bit of chipotle that made the steak delicious. Steak was damn near perfect. Priced at 40 dollars.
I had a side of green beans that were also cooked perfectly and were lightly salted.
The rancho salted potatoes were cooked perfectly as well but I believe could use a different type of cheese , Parmesan was used and I found to be a little over whelming. But that is personal preference.
We also tried the rancho Seco burger which was cooked perfectly and had delicious ingredients
a real treat
We believe that the star in that burger was the ingredients and the burger was a little over salted which overwhelmed the delicious ingredients.
Fries were perfectly seasoned and cooked.best fries around town for sure.
Over all great experience delicious food.
Will definitely be back,
Definitely a little expensive for Mount Pleasant. But delicious...
