I have been to sushi taro three times in the past and I always order the lotus flower. I love the combination of the basil, asian pear, cream cheese, salmon and crab. Today I wanted to take my kids here to enjoy good food and have a nice experience. That did not happen. I have never been treated or seen anyone treated so badly in a restaurant in my life. To help give anyone reading this a genuine idea of what we did experience I will put it in fine detail. My boyfriend and I along with three well behaved kids entered the restaurant and the first question was how many? “3...6”? Ok stop there do they have a counting problem or were we being judged as a black & white couple with three mixed kids? I don’t know. He walked us over to a table and we sat down. He handed us 5 menus. My boyfriend went to the restroom and while he was gone I ordered 5 waters. He came back sat down and my 8 year old and 12 year old went to the restroom. They came back sat down and started looking at the menus with us. I wanted to order a glass of wine but the four people working in the restaurant were sitting in the booth by the entrance to the back of the restaurant eating so I had to say “Excuse me” This was the first unprofessional thing I noticed. The young man came over to the table and I ordered a glass. A few minutes later a young woman came up to the table and acted annoyed with us as if she wanted us to hurry up and order. We all ordered except my oldest son who wanted to try something with seafood other than your everyday shrimp or whatever so the lady recommended to try the squid sushi. We all received our food but my so was disappointed because he had a plate put down in front of him with two pieces of nigiri! So while everyone else has enough food on their plate to fill them up my 12 year old has two pieces of small fish on top of rice. Why did the lady not inform us that she was bringing out an appetizer! So asked him what he wanted to eat since he only had this! When I told the lady he wanted to order the shrimp hibachi she was rude and said “ for here?” I said yes and she walked to the back to give them my order looking very annoyed. As I was eating the lotus flower I ordered I noticed it was nowhere near as good as it was the other times I had it and it tasted completely different. So it had no pear and had avocado which is not a lotus flower. So the lady came over to the table and I told her this was not a lotus flower. She looked at me with an attitude and said “THIS LOTUS FLOWER “ So I picked up the menu pointed out the ingredients listed then handed her the plate. She finally apologized then went over to the counter and started yelling at the chefs responsible for the sushi mistake in front of the whole restaurant out loud in Japanese! By the way my daughter and I ordered the same thing and they brought the food on the same plate and when they remade it the right way they brought it to us on the same plate again. This is not professional. If I was at home I would not care but that’s not what I expect from a 4.6 star restaurant. Everything was ok other than the fact that she decided that playing on her phone was more important than being attentive so I guess that’s what really annoyed her when my boyfriend asked for sauce to go with his food for the first time. So he requested sauce and she breathed a sigh then walked away shouting out loud in Japanese in an extremely annoyed voice! At this point I’m looking at her in disbelief and I asked the young man for the manager and I was told that the owner is the manager and that he was not there. So I explained everything that had happened and he offered to pay for my food! So at this point I think I must be dreaming! Are these people really this rude! So I said “So it’s all about us wanting a free meal?” I took out my card payed 98 dollars and some change to be treated like trash then I gave them the 7 dollars I had on me for a tip as well. “Everyone else likes us” was the way it was handled! I said “Just because you have 4.6 doesn’t mean we weren’t...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Sushi Taro Japanese Restaurant, was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the beautiful ambiance. The interior was serene and tastefully decorated, creating an atmosphere that was both elegant and inviting.
The staff were incredibly nice and welcoming. We were greeted graciously and promptly shown to our seats. Their hospitality set the tone for the rest of the meal.
We began our meal with the Taro House Salad with Ginger Dressing. This was, without a doubt, the largest and most beautifully presented house salad I have ever had at a restaurant. The ginger dressing was so delicious that if it were socially acceptable, I would have gladly drunk it as a soft drink! Honestly, if we had stopped at the house salad, I would have been completely satisfied.
However, we were there for sushi, and sushi we had! We ordered the Buddha's Belly Roll, Naruto Roll, Crazy Tuna Roll, and the Philadelphia Maki Roll. Each roll was beautifully presented on a pristine white dish, accompanied by ample amounts of ginger and sinus-scorching wasabi – which I absolutely love. The sushi was so enticing that, embarrassingly, I forgot to take pictures. The portions were generous, and the flavors were exquisite. We ended up with more food than we could handle and had to tap out – something we had never done before!
To top off an already amazing meal, the staff graciously gave us a complimentary ice cream brownie dessert. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
Sushi Taro Japanese Restaurant is truly a hidden gem tucked away at the back of a shopping plaza. More people need to know about this place and try their incredible food. I can’t wait to return and indulge in more of their...
Read moreCame with my friend who had just had dental work done, asked for the avocado salad to be mixed with the seaweed salad which they said they couldn’t do for us even though we were going to pay for both. Our server was not friendly, and when my friend tried to get her to laugh she was unresponsive. My friend even tried speaking to her in Korean and Chinese both to which she didn’t acknowledge his friendliness at trying to start conversation with her. When I ordered the miso soup it was lukewarm, and seaweed salad had a bland flavor. Not a big portion for what we paid for either. Pretty much felt bad for my friend who picked up the tab, was left with a feeling that I could have stayed home and rolled my own sushi and been more satisfied. Not trying to be overly critical because the restaurant does have a nice appearance and atmosphere to it, but when we left my waitress was on her cell phone sitting down like she had somewhere better to be or do. We ordered the platter and I was charged 2$ extra to pick chefs sushi rolls and I promise you they weren’t special. I was sad to barely taste Asian pear on the roll I got, and the sashimi was not good. I ate all of it because I don’t waste anything but definitely don’t recommend a date here. Also bring your own wasabi tube because the stuff here is not as spicy as...
