We went here after running in the Cooper Bridge 10k this past Saturday (April 1st, 2023). We started with the SOL Trio (queso, guacamole, and tomato salsa). All three were good, the tomato salsa was really nice. Two of us ordered the Green Chile Bison Burger and it came with seasoned fries. The burger has a Chile relish and caramelized onions. We both agree the burger was flavorless. The relish and onions had some taste, but otherwise, flavorless. Salt and pepper would have made a big difference in the flavor. Also, the fries were just like the Cajun fries one would get at Bojangles. Two other people in my party ordered the Carnitas Napoleon Pork Tower. The meat was delicious, and the presentation was cool. However, neither person was a fan of the fried tortillas that made the stack. The biggest complaint about the Napoleon Carnitas was the indigestion and heartburn that followed into the night. [I am only stating what the two people in our party told me about their experience]. We also got the Gouda Grits for some cheesy carb goodness. They were pretty good. Creamy and they hit the spot. My only real complaint: The receipt had a comment about earned points, of which all I had to do was write my phone number on the merchant receipt and I would get a text notification I am signed up in their points program. I have not received any message as of yet. Does it take a week or so to get a notification about points? IDK. So, if you plan to eat here, and on a regular basis, keep up with your points and make sure you get enrolled (I am not a local so I am not going to worry about my points). The service was great!! The hostess Tracy was absolutely amazing; friendly and fun. Our sever, Carolyn, was on top of everything and very, very attentive and very helpful. Overall would I go back? No, no I wouldn't. It was a meal, but not tasty enough for me to go back, nor did anyone else in our party say they would go back. SOL is located across from the Holiday Inn Express and we noticed their parking lots are full and overflowing with customers, so I am sure they have great business and a great customer base... Give them a try and leave a review. I would like to see how others...
Read moreOn our first night in Mt Pleasant we stopped by SOL for dinner. It is a very good south western restaurant. There were tables outside and people were eating out there. Inside was a bar with tables and booths. We were seated quickly and the restaurant was pretty busy for a Wednesday night. I ordered a cocktail of the citrus basil white sangria. It was very good! It went down too easily! We started with the firecracker appetizer which was cream cheese stuffed Jalapeños wrapped in bacon. They were pretty good, nothing too different then I have gotten at other restaurants but tasty just the same. We also got the Bang Bang Tequila Shrimp. We thought they were very good! The batter stayed on pretty well and they weren’t oily at all. For entrees we had the South West Tuna salad with corn and Lime vinaigrette. The tuna was seasoned very well and this was delicious. It came on a bed of greens with avocado and black beans. My daughter had the kids beef tacos that came with fried. She said they were very good. They were seasoned well and not spicy, which is important for the kids. I got the chicken enchiladas and they were very good. They were filled well and the sauces on top were delicious. But, I did enjoy the red chili sauce more then the green. We also had the Chipotle Chicken quesadilla. This was very delicious, but it was also very hard to eat by hand. That’s not a big deal, but it was rolled and cut unlike a traditional quesadilla, which made it fall apart and it was a little messy and disappointing for that. We had a really good meal and enjoyed the food. They also do a brunch that seems very popular because they were packed...
Read moreWhile the food looked nice, I would have preferred it to taste nice. The chips and salsa were $10. That would ordinarily be disappointing but ok. However, the chips were stale, and the salsa was bland. That should have been our cue to leave. But we stayed. Our entrees also lacked any sort of flavor. The tortillas in the carnitas Napoleon were so over-fried it was like cutting into pieces of wood, which made it difficult to eat. Also, the carnitas were greasy and had no spice. The red sauce on the chimichanga tasted like tomato paste. It also had very little cheese on it, which was disappointing because it was so dry and flavorless it needed something to help it. Our waitress practically ignored us the whole time. She did apologize for that, though. She said the reason she ignored us is because she was busy with another table. (By the way, I'm not sure how that's supposed to make me feel any better about waiting around for anything and everything during our visit. So, it didn't really feel like an apology.) The margaritas were good. Not the best in town, and a little on the small side, but they were good. The atmosphere was nice. Very southwest... Adobe looking walls, etc. The restaurant appeared clean. Did not use...
