As someone who works in hospitality and understands that the customer is not always right, the front desk ladies, specifically Peyton, should NOT be in hospitality. We were there this past weekend for a baseball tournament. This hotel is a Stay to Play hotel. Meaning if we want to play in this tournament, there are certain hotels we must stay at. This one was close to the ball park, had a pool, and we stayed at an IHG hotel last month in Delaware and had a great experience. From the minute I checked in, Peyton was simply unhelpful and rude. I chalked it up to being tired. We got there on a Wednesday and the pool was closed for some reason. Keeping 9yr olds entertained with no pool was a challenge. By Thursday, Peyton was clearly irritated with the kids. Odd, since this is a participating hotel. They should be used to kids. Pool gets fixed on Friday, kids play ball in the morning, pool in the afternoon into the evening, no issues at all. Saturday evening, the adults are sitting in the lobby and the kids are in bed and Peyton turned the lights off at 9pm. Picture adults sitting in the lobby and the lights just get shut off while we are having conversation. I asked her, "hey, did the lights get turned off on purpose?". To which she replied, YES, the lobby closes at 9. How incredibly RUDE to shut the lights off on adults (not children) having conversation in the lobby of a hotel. I asked if she got noise complaints, she said "no". It's quiet time at 9pm and her policy is to shut the lights off. I told her we ordered pizza, let us eat then we will wrap things up. It was raining and we couldn't go outside. She, in all her attitude and glory, said "fine". To my surprise, 30 minutes later, she called the cops. Even the cops thought the call was absolutely ridiculous. I could NOT get out of there fast enough Sunday. Another parent stayed another night and when she got back to the hotel at almost 10pm, the lights were on and there were folks in the lobby hanging out. Never in all my years of traveling have I experienced such a RUDE front desk staff. Peyton DOES NOT need to be in hospitality. and that hotel needs to remove themselves from the Top Gun tournament. The lady in the morning who helped with breakfast service was awesome and so were the...
Read moreWe checked out after staying 5 nights and we had a nice stay. The lobby was clean and well appointed with couches connecting to the breakfast area. The woman at the front desk was nice and had our room keys ready on the spot making check in a breeze. All the ladies at the front desk during our stay were very friendly and would ask about our day. The room was large with a couch and sitting area, there was a desk and area for our bags to be propped up on a bench of sorts. There was also a coffee table that was used for board games and eating area while we stayed. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I especially liked the firm pillow. The bathroom was a good size with complimentary Watkins brand body soap and shampoo. There was a pool we used and it was pretty well maintained. I didn’t like seeing some guests sitting out there after it was supposed to be closed, but our room was not near that area so we didn’t hear them. Also, there were people drinking beer bottles and other glass bottles and I was concerned there would be broken glass. Breakfast was very good, but it was pretty much the same daily for a few days. There was scrambled eggs, both pork and Turkey sausages, a real cool pancake machine the kids loved to use and they came out very tasty! There was also juices, cereals, yogurt, cinnamon rolls, fruit, milks and bagels. Friday was actually the first day there were egg whites and it was a very welcomed change. I would have liked to see scrambled eggs and egg whites together daily. There was a super nice attendant in the food area named Denise! She was so nice and friendly with a warm welcome to the breakfast area. Denise recommended my son put some peanut butter on his pancakes and he LOVED it! I honestly think the coffee was better because she is a happy person!! Next to the hotel is a southwestern Resturant named Sol that we really enjoyed and it’s super convenient that it is literally steps from the hotel. This hotel is in a really good location because there are many Resturant’s in close driving distance, also Target and Wal-mart nearby. Isle of Palms with a large beach area and restaurants is also a 10 min ride. Really happy we...
