Floyd’s was great—halfway into an 8 hour drive with four young kids in tow, we desperately needed a beak (and as the Mom I was desperate for it not be be a generic chain fast food joint). The gentleman taking orders (whom I believe was Floyd himself), was kind, personable, and understanding with the kid chaos. The food (a round of bacon cheeseburgers, fries, and onion rings) was great—tasty and fresh fixings. The onion rings, in particular, were phenomenal. It honestly reminded me of the diner I used to go to with my grandpa as a kid for epic onion rings and ice cream. Top on our list for another visit is to try their milkshakes—the flavors alone sell themselves.
Also bonus points for a clean, large restroom. Any Mom or parent knows how painful it is ferrying kids through unclean restrooms; We’d rather walk hot coals than help littles through nasty restrooms. Although, honestly, the food and service was so good, it could have been a hole in the ground and we’d come back.
We road trip through this area from Nevada several times a year to see family or vacation—I’m just annoyed I hadn’t discovered this place sooner. Further—traveling with young kids is HARD—and on this occasion I was the only parent as my husband had to work (and hence, was VASTLY outnumbered by four kids between 3 and 9 years old)—the simple kindness, patience, understanding, and family atmosphere made the day a bit easier and brighter. Fifteen mins off the freeway, but a world away from cookie cutter quick-serve franchise restaurants. There was a steady stream of locals and passersby who also speak to the consistency and quality.
Go to this place; it’s good food and...

The burgers? Always on point. Fresh ingredients, cooked just right, never greasy, and full of flavor. It’s not fancy — it’s better. You can taste the care that goes into every bite. The fries are always hot and crisp, and don’t even get me started on the milkshakes. Heaven. But the real reason people keep coming back is Floyd himself. He’s the soul of this place. Small-town charm through and through. He’ll treat you like family, serve you with a smile, and probably make you laugh while he’s at it. Great conversation, good energy, just a downright good human. Floyd’s Frosty isn’t trying to be some big chain or trendy joint — and that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s a little slice of real,...
Read moreWhat I really appreciate is how well they understand their clientele. Most of their customers, like us, probably just came back from McCloud Falls — tired, sun-drenched, and hungry. They totally get that. They take your order, bring your food, and then let you be. Just one quick check-in to make sure everything's good — no constant chatting, no small talk, no questions about your trip.
Honestly, I was so drained I probably came off a little rude without meaning to — but I’m sure they’ve dealt with plenty of tired McCloud tourists before, and they handled it like pros. That kind of understanding and low-key service goes a long way.
The food is simple and satisfying — a good patty, melted cheese, crispy onion rings, all on a quality bun. Nothing over the top — just exactly what hits the spot after a...
