We were meeting friends for 5 days and Mt Sterling, KY is the halfway point. Cattleman’s Roadhouse had great reviews so we chose it for our first night’s dinner. Donna W was our server , she was kind & helpful with our ordering and even took our photo! Everything we had was perfectly delicious! Add the salad bar it’s all you can eat & less than $5 plus eat the hot rolls, yum! Two of us had the 8oz sirloin with bourbon glaze and added the salad bar, oh my soooo good! Hubs had the 8 oz sirloin with blue cheese added and fries, yummy! Our 4th had the half rack of ribs, asparagus and salad bar, said the ribs were awesome! So now it’s our last night in our cabin before heading home and we decided to go back to Cattleman’s for a 2nd visit since our first experience was so great! Shawnda was a very good server tonight. On Sunday’s they offer Early Bird specials until 5:30 pm so I ordered the 6oz sirloin with bourbon glaze with a sweet potato and the salad bar was included in the $15.99 price, so so tasty & great price! Hubs ordered the fried pork chop special and had the mac & cheese as his side plus the salad bar was included too! What a deal! Our friends had the pot roast and the beer cheeseburger from the seasonal menu with 2 Pattie’s and lots of cheese with a side of onion rings, they both added the salad bar and thoroughly enjoyed their meals! We all tried the onion rings and thought they must be cut fresh, nothing like regular frozen ones! Definitely recommend Cattleman’s Roadhouse if you’re close to Mt...
Read moreThe food and service has gradually gotten worse over the past month. I know it's hard to find good cooks but the last steaks we ordered were awful. Today we decided to give it another try .they weren't busy ..went to salad bar, no lettuce...seated us in booth 13 ...may as well been sitting in a corner of the kitchen. Our waitress wasn't attentive, the booth is where the servers are getting drinks, ECT for customers and every 2 min ..one was bent over with their butts about 3 inches from our table top. Yep .that why you pay big prices to see someone's a** in your face while you are eating, and because of buckets of ice being dumped in, there is little way to have a family discussion. We quit going for awhile because we were seated in the bar area ..while that's not offensive to some, we don't feel it appropriate for Sunday after Church dining. Worst service ever..too busy making drinks to get to people who were waiting on their food and needed a soda. Today, well maybe the waitress was having a bad day...but you could at least come back and check on the family in booth 13. We normally give a huge tip..half w the bill, and half in cash, just to ensure the waitress gets the money, not the restaurant but today ..I had to force myself to leave one. This place was usually packed and people wauting..but not the last 2 times we have been there. Change is in the air ..and the air is foul... Better management, or better cooks...but the place has alot...
Read moreArguably one of the better restaurants in Mt. Sterling, but you must caveat that by saying the bar is a bit low in the area and the number of competitors is slim--Cattleman's comes in first place running a marathon for your dining out dollar with only two other competitors.
Price to quality ratio is a bit high and they do not let patrons share or substitute when it comes to the salad bar. Don't get me wrong, it's a fine spread but the militarized enforcement of the salad bar regulations and policies is something. It's romaine lettuce and croutons not weapons grade enriched uranium that's available here. But, I get it.
Service has always been friendly and relatively fast. The quality of the food is above average for the area if, as noted, it is a slight bit pricey; and the place is usually packed (again, not much competition for a sit down joint in the county).
Fried pork chops and the haystack sirloin/rib eye are a staple, always enjoyable. Appetizers are a bit lack luster; some are frozen not fresh.
The bar is there. It exists, but that's about it. Drink prices are as you'd expect in 2020 for a chain restaurant. Given the popularity of the place it's almost always full, I'd imagine the owners would like to have more space some nights.
Overall, a TOP spot in Mt. Sterling but sadly not because it's just THAT good--Rather it's simply what we have. Some well-priced specials and/or a military discount would bump this review up...
