05/16/2021 Had been enthusiastically waiting to try this new place in town, shying away from reviews and opinion to make my own.
We arrived 7pm and had to wait to be seated for capacity issues due to Covid-19 restrictions. Which was fine as we had expected this. We received our call to be seated and entered the restaurant. The decor and ambiance lighting beautiful to say the least. The sasquatch in the painting on the wall though, tacky and out of place.
Waitress comes to take an appetizer order and drinks. We ordered the fried pickles, chips and queso, fried green tomatoes, bacon wrapped tater tots, it took about 10 minutes for this to arrive all the while during this the waitress took our dinner order. My fiance ordered Steak and shrimp with mac&cheese along with a side of Poblano roasted corn and onion, I ordered the Bourbon Salmon and rice with a vegetables side.
Appetizer items arrived hot and were delicious except for the fact that the bacon wrapped tater tots were covered in a cheese that hid the toothpicks holding them together. I had eaten one that had a broken toothpick in it. The Manager approaches the table to tell me the vegetables would cost extra with the meal I had ordered but the vegetables I ordered were in the sides menu, during which time I had tried the bacon covered tater tots and was searching my mouth for the rest of the toothpick hidden in its cheese. Finally decided to get broccoli with my meal.
Heres where it goes south. We waited for about 40 minutes to receive our dinner order. Immediately my fiance's meal was sub par in so many ways. The steak was paper thin overcooked, the shrimp was rubbery and cold. The poblano corn was lukewarm at best with little to no seasoning. She didn't want to send it back because we had waited so long for it.
My meal I felt cheated in portion size to cost. The salmon may have been an inch wide × 5 inch long × 1 inch thick (in my past restaurant experiences that should have been much larger portion. The rice was half cooked with some that wasn't even cooked at all. The broccoli was literally refrigerator cold. When I complained about this it was almost as if the staff were mad that I complained. Of course it was met with a small forced grin and a speaking through the teeth of "I'll fix that for ya". I asked if they could get me fresh broccoli and that was also met with discourse. It came back as the same broccoli just microwaved and so hot it couldn't possibly be eaten. After all this they never offered an apology. The manager had "other things going on" and couldn't be bothered. I did not come here looking for a discount people I didn't ask for one. It wasn't offered. This has been a opinion of new restaurant in town and we need them. But this restaurant needs to step...
Read moreThe atmosphere was good, beautiful place. The hand painted mural was beautiful. We had the fried green tomatoes and mozzarella sticks as appetizers and they were very good. I had the ribs and chicken with onion rings and broccoli/cheese. My husband had blackened catfish with onion rings and broccoli/cheese. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Food came pretty quick. The food was pretty good. The cheese sauce on the broccoli was very thin and runny though. The meal was kind of expensive. Thought it was weird that I didn’t get my food on a plate, instead it came on a metal tray and my food was on red checked paper. Overall, our experience was good, but I couldn’t get passed the smell coming from the floor under our table. It smelled like dirty mop water and it was strong. It was hard to enjoy my food because of the smell. I didn’t like that…. They need to work on a remedy for that, maybe add some soap or bleach to the mop water. Not sure if I want to go back....
Read moreThis is an amazing restaurant. The wall are covered with pictures of dinosaurs. Big ones some six or eight feet tall. They have a salad bar there that honestly I have never tried but it looks good . On a different note, I would like to mention that everything we have ordered there is very good food. One order in particular the salads . They are a lot of good tasting food. Too much for us to eat in one sitting. We usually end up taking about half of it home and making another meal out of it. This is not uncommon. My wife and have found most restaurants serve too much food. Also in my younger days I made three tours to Viet Nam in the United States Navy . I always take advantage of military when available. It is available here. Be shure and use it if you can., if you are a frequent visitor here you can get a card that they punch every time you eat there. After seven punches you get a free meal and...
