Honestly, I was headed to a different Mexican restaurant, when I stumbled on the Salty Senorita. Truth be told there was only 1 car in the parking lot and I thought for a moment that the locals must know this place is not good. Feeling adventurous I sauntered in anyway. Now the exterior is not much to look at and doesn't exactly scream authentic Mexican food, but when I saw the hand painted booths from Mexico as I came in, I knew I was onto something. A friendly guera greeted me instantly. I saw another guera moving in the back and walk toward the kitchen. I was pre-judging the place by all the guera's working here began to again doubt the sincerity of the authenticity of the Mexican food as the sign claimed. Nevertheless, I sat down and ordered a sweet tea as I glanced over what appeared to be a fairly standard Mexican restaurant menu. (see photos) The tea arrived in short order and I expected it to be a Lipton syrup tea or similar. I didn't verify, but it tasted like it and was acceptable, but it didn't have a real brewed taste. ( I am very picky about my tea). I ordered a California Burrito because it has 3 layers with beef, shrimp, and chicken and 3 sauces, green, cheese, and red salsa. The first thing i noticed was the size of this thing! It was a huge burrito with a ton of rice! The rice was cooked to perfection and was mildly flavored. The green salsa had a bit too much lemon flavor but complimented the Burrito just fine. The cheese sauce was spot on.
Now the most important part of any Mexican restaurant is the complimentary Chips and Salsa. You can fill up on these if they are delicious and just coast through a meal that doesn't taste great. These Chips and Salsa did not disappoint. The salsa was spot on! I asked a lady who appeared to be Mexican if the salsa was made in house and she said it was. It felt good to speak with someone who spoke Spanish and she seemed delighted that I complimented the salsa as being sabrosa! I finished off my delicious meal with a slice of turtle cheesecake. She said the cakes were not homemade but I tried it anyway. It was great. I certainly recommend this place and the place did get busy as I ate my meal, so I guess the...
Read moreWe went today right at 2. Our 1St time. Promptly seated by a very friendly hostess. She told us we arrived at the right time, after the lunch rush because they were having to turn people away. We received chips, salsa, and drinks immediately! Some of the best salsa I have ever had! Fresh onions, cilantro, and heat! Delicious! My Son loved the chicken nuggets and my Husband loved his pollo loco. I had the chicken/steak combo fajita. We received large portions, which is great to have take home, but the grilled flavor was fantastic. My Husband did love his entree but when he tried mine, he said he would order that when we go back. The Owner (whom I do not know, only know that from talking to her) was constantly walking around speaking to customers. She was making sure everyone was pleased, getting anything that anyone wanted, from salsa, drinks, etc. So thankful and pleasant, we appreciated the effort and concern from her. Our server, Ally, was so pleasant! We never wanted for anything. She is an asset to this business. I felt the need to leave such a detailed good review based on a few of the bad ones I read. This restaurant had been open just 3 weeks. To leave a 1 star review 1 week in where you say the food was amazing but then be petty, is not fair to a new business. There are Negative Nancy's and Karen's no matter what, but you have to consider the source, and read some of their other reviews. A 1 star review here, has left multiple other 1 star reviews. To me, that is someone that only looks for anything negative. 1 review said the salsa was tomato paste. What a joke. To wrap up, when I handed Ally her tip, she gave me a card. When you purchase 10 entrees, you get a free entree. A nice touch! We will absolutely go back, Thank you! Also, the tables and chairs are beautiful. Plus, we we're there after a huge rush hour and the place was extremely clean. *We went back for our 2nd visit, and if it is at all possible, our 2nd visit was even better than our first!...
Read moreI hate giving a negative review because I actually enjoy the food here. But numerous times I have made Togo orders for lunches and business meetings and without fail they continue to fail to send flatware or enough chips/salsa. I ordered food for 10-12 today and got 2 small bags of chips and no flatware. The solution was I could come get more chips but they do not send them with DoorDash orders unless they’re requested on special instructions. What? You put chips, salsa and silverware on every table when dining in. This is very bad for business. I should’ve learned my lesson the first handful of times I ordered but I was hoping it would improve. Come on please stop doing this, I don’t want to have to come in for chips after paying for it to be delivered, If I had the time to pick up I would’ve done it to start with. When someone orders delivery they are often at work and don’t have access to silverware. I don’t know if they’re trying to save money or what, but it’s...
