The good - fast, tasty, juicy, delicious The bad - juicy (I’ll explain) The ugly - The meat and cheese wound up as a slab
Stopped by to pickup an order for a major delivery service. Decided to grab my lunch while doing this, and the guys were great. I got the slammer, and the flavors of the meat, wow! It was juicy, had melted cheese, and I even added curry Mayo for a little extra flare. However, the way the sandwich is constructed, the meat and cheese were a melted together slab that just kinda slid out of the sandwich. The meat was juicy, tender, and full of flavor. While this is normally great, if you don’t eat it just that moment, after 4-5 minutes, the outer part of the roll becomes this baby food like mush, and not in any way crunchy (I got the Dutch crunch roll). All in all, a pretty darned good sandwich, just make sure it can be eaten right away. A 10 minute trip to the office with it, and it may let you down. I’d still go here over a Quiznos or Subway 100/10 times, so that’s why I have it 5*. The flavors and service were spot on, and that’s...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I decided to try this place for lunch because we were craving a good Italian style sandwich and this place had good reviews and the menu looked amazing. I ordered the Nola and my boyfriend got the slammer, which came to $40 with chips and drink.. My sandwich was served with a wheat roll instead of the French roll that I was expecting, but the bread was still soft and tasty; however, when I bit into the sandwich, the meat was so hard I couldn't bite into it. I looked inside and the edges of the ham were so hard and crusty it was like biting into a piece of wood, like it was old and stored uncovered for days. I had to remove it from the sandwich because it was inedible. I was shocked he would serve that to someone. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed in the quality and was unable to finish the sandwich. I will not be returning to this place but I hope they improve their operations and the quality of food they are willing to serve...

The Don's Deli 2105 Old Middlefield Rd Mountain View, CA 94043
I was in the area so I stopped in at around noon on a Wednesday. It's a small sandwich shop in a strip mall at the corner of Rengstorff and Old Middlefield Way. Parking was okay for the small mall with two rows of spaces. It was busy with many people waiting to pick up their orders. Don't plan on eating in, I counted 7 chairs for the 3 small tables.
I ordered Don's Original Tri-Tip on Sour Dough. The sandwich was hefty with a good amount of thinly sliced beef with a subtle teriyaki flavor. The quality of the meat was good with no fat and tender (for Tri-Tip). It was a little chewy but I expected that. It was soaked with dressing and messy, don't attempt to eat in your car.
You order and pay at the register and wait for your name to be called. The sandwich was tasty and a good value. ...
