Been coming here for a long time. 20 years.food has always been amazing.. the owner is a upstanding guy and is a legend in the Mundelein community.we enjoyed Many post game hot dogs and cheese fries with the parents and teammates after baseball games as a kid in little league. These days I come here specifcally for the italian sub and cheese fries, and my gf loves the cheese fries and the double cheeseburger. Came in today april 11th 2021 and had to wait MUCH longer than usual. I dont mind waiting for good quality.. I've worked in the industry before and I understand when things get busy people have to wait. I watched around 5 to 6 people come in that had ordered remotely and got their fries and burgers. After the grills and fryer was cleared more fries etc were started..was excited for the freshest hottest burger and fries weve ever gotten. Unfortunately it Seemed like it was rushed.. the fries were not crispy at all like usual and there was not nearly as many as there usually are. It was still busy, my receipt said 730. I Was also there this past friday which was my bday. Got the same italian sub and the bread was shriveled and disformed. The huge peppercinis were at the bottom of the sandwich making it a sloppy mess before I even picked it up and there had to be half a bottle of italian dressing on it. Most of the time this place is beyond good but it seems to be slipping as of lately or there are people in leadership positions that dont care when the owners not around. I've never had the fries undercooked.. noticed a middlegaed Hispanic cook that was cooking the fries that I've never noticed before... possibly only noticed him this time because I was waiting so long and was trying to see what was going on. members seemed to be working slowly almost as if they just smoked a blunt or just woke up from a nap. I hate going to a place I love going to and seeing employees slack off and then I pay for my food and it's not up to the normal standard. That's why I'm giving a 4 out of 5 stars. Hopefully the owner gets somebody in there that will keep up the consistency we all love and drive 20 30 40 minutes to enjoy. the food has never been anything but great.. hence the 4 stars..I've witnessed and enjoyed this place being great for so many years. For the price point and all the hype, this place is really subpar. It feels like they’ve got a reputation for being great, but my first experience was awful. The fries tasted like old grease with zero seasoning. The cheese sauce had a weird tang to it.

I called in two separate phone orders at the same time — paid one in cash and the other over the phone. One was ready when I arrived, but the other? I waited 38 minutes for two Gyro Dinners and an Italian Beef Combo, with no time estimate given — and only got excuses. It honestly felt like because I was paying cash, they didn’t bother making it until I got there.

During that wait, people who called in after me got their food first. Half of my order had to be remade because it sat so long while waiting for the other order to even be made— they were just going to send me home with it like that.

While I stood there watching the restaurant turn over, nobody checked in on me or gave me updates. I literally had to remind everyone around me how long I’d been waiting. The excuse I got? “Gyros take longer, and we're slammed tonight.” Sorry, but I’ve been going to Sammie’s (a direct competitor from my old neighborhood) for years, and no matter how busy they are, my food comes out fresh and on time — and if there’s a wait, they communicate.

Here, not only did they mishandle my order, but I also saw other customers dealing with wrong or missing items. Their “solution” to my bad experience? A discount on next time. As if I’d come back.

If you’re into long lines, subpar food, and staff that don’t care about checking on customers or fixing mistakes, this is your spot. Me? I’ll happily drive to Grayslake and go to Sammie’s where the fries are crispy, the food’s fresh, and they actually know how to handle a rush. Don’t be fooled by the name —...

Update: I will never go back, this is the third time in a row now we have had a bad experience. It's a shame because this place used to be great. The service is terrible, they clearly don't want to be there and don't listen to the orders at all. I pointed this out on this visit and told them to remake my husbands gyro, because I watched it made wrong, and could see it made wrong.... yet it wasn't remade and I was told I was wrong..... Um what???? This was after I called ahead to order, was told 5 mins, waited 25 minutes and watched at least 6 other people come in and order and leave before I got my order. I only had a gyro that wasn't supposed to go on the grill, but they did anyway.... A burger and fries. It's not like I had 20 things. We will just go to Twisted Burger, Portllos, it really anywhere but here anymore.

Never had a bad meal here! Everything is great! Beware of ordering a large fry, that order will be enough for the family. They always give generous portions and I love that they serve...
