We arrived at 5:15 and didn't get our food until 7:21, but we only ordered 5 tacos. My fiance was getting upset watching people come in be served and leave before we got our 5 tacos to share, which come in a meal. They tried to bring us 3 tacos for a couple of orders, but all of the people in our party had ordered 5 to share or 5 per person. Our waitress was super kind and very busy. She was an angel!! The "general manager" Kevin did not do anything to help us. My fiance even spoke to him about an hour and 15 minutes in about his frustrations, and was told "don't get worked up" as if we would be helped shortly or compensated or acknowledged by him to get the proper order. He stood at his little bar table on his computer and socialized with other waitresses. Kevin never apologized to our table, he never even came to the table except for one time with 3 more tacos that were on the order of the table. This whole time, my fiance and I never got any food in front of us besides the complimentary chips and salsa because none of it matched our order. My father had to leave at 6:30 to get to bowling and thought he would have enough time. He did not get any tacos by then and neither did anyone else at our table at that point. By the time I had my food everyone else had finished eating and was ready to go with their food boxed up, just waiting for the bill. Then, the bills took forever to sort out. We just wanted to meet up for Taco Tuesday right quick and it ended up being a whole entire night excursion. We ended up spending about $40 on 5 drinks and 5 tacos when we wouldn't have even been there for 5 drinks if we had just been helped in the first place when we tried to get "General Manager Kevin's" attention. It felt like a waste of my time, I had just come from work. I thought we would be there for an hour and maybe 30 minutes and spend like $28 on just us 2 in the party. Our waitress was clearly busy with many tables and he did not give one care. It was not a very good first experience. Kevin has bad customer service skills and is not a great manager of employees or he would not be so rude to people who displease him in the least. Apparently Kevin said to my fiance "you got your food didn't you?" While I was at the table, boxing our fresh food up, getting ready to go like everyone else. At least it was fresh.
Also, soft tacos aren't included in Taco...
Read moreThe first time I tried El Potrero, I was dining in with my family of 7. Our waitress was horrible, our order was messed up, our food came out randomly, and we had to continually ask our waitress for the same things over and over again over the course of about 2.5 hours- we had a 2 year old and a 4 month old baby with us, and it was not busy at all!
After paying our bill we asked to talk to management. The management seemed incredibly nice, apologized profusely, blamed his waitress for being new, then asked for my cell phone number to talk during the week over what his restaurant can improve on (we dined in on a Saturday). I said okay because I had such a horrible experience, the bill was a lot and I sympathize with a business trying to do their best.
The manager called me on Tuesday afternoon (we dined in the previous Saturday) and I spent a very long time listing off the things that I experienced there and why they aren't okay in the restaurant industry, so he said he was very sorry, and would love for our family to give his restaurant another chance so he would give us 20% off a pick up or dine in order next time if we just tried it again.
2 months later, my same family was visiting and decided we should get a pick up order with this place with the 20% off... so we called, placed our order, I gave my name and number and told them the situation we were returning in. THE SAME MANAGER I talked to in person and on the phone said to us while placing a pick-up order over the phone "that just doesn't sound like me" and "I wouldn't do that!? On a $70 order!? That's over 14 bucks... tell you what, I'll do $10 off."
Our original bill at this place was $110, and he offered 20% off our next order, after calling me during the week and talking for over 20 minutes apologetically, then called me a liar when I finally returned with a $70 order 2 months later with my name and phone number for a pick-up order!?
I will NEVER take my family to this location again. Our table is easy, GOOD MONEY, we are good tippers, and we live right down the road from this place. We will be taking our Mexican food cravings elsewhere.
But hey, thanks for the $14 off our 2nd order- but it wasn't worth all the hard feelings, and the time spent complaining the first time honestly! Or worth our family feeling awful twice over the first horrible dine-in...
Read moreSuper slow (about 40 min) to be seated and served. The place looked to have 6 tables all w/2people. Food is brought out in segments. We had salsa, 10 minutes later chips were delivered, 15 min later after eating the stuff, I begged for water. It took 4 minutes for water to be delivered; we were across from the bar. My friend was served first. My fajita meat was delivered, then my margarita. 6 minutes for the fajita toppings to arrive. I ate 1/3 using the tortilla chips before finally seeing our waitress & asking for the fajita tortillas. We thought this dinner was a fluke. We went back for lunch and had the same experience. Twenty minutes to be sat. Salsa first. The chips & drinks arrived faster. My appetizer came with chips. I used the initial chips for my appetizer until running out. I asked three times for the chips that were supposed to come with my appetizer. They kept looking at the complimentary table chips like I was being unreasonable in asking for the chips that came with my appetizer. This time I tried a different meal. It was subpar. The prices are decent. The portions are OK to scant. Any side is served in a tiny plastic container. Frozen strawberry margaritas are not good. A cheap mix is used, very processed and plastic tasting. Very disappointed. This place is within minutes of my house. I just cannot pay for slow, segmented service, subpar food and drinks. This is upsetting to me. I would have come here at least twice a week had any of it been OK. The salsa lacks flavor but has a bit of heat. The guacamole is flavorless, over mixed and a bit runny. Guacamole Mexicale is avocado and Pico mixed together. It was better but the veggies needed to be smaller and drained. Soupy guacamole is never ok. Nothing seems to be seasoned. A bit of garlic and salt would go a long way. I do not understand the segmented service. If you go after 6, the bar gets VERY loud. I recommend not sitting close to the drunks if you want to be able to have table...
