Visiting home for the holiday season, I was looking forward to stopping by here, as the reviews certainly create a hype. However, perhaps Cup Pop is overhyped?
With limited menu options and variety, there isn't much to comment on except that you order wanting more to choose from. And don't get me wrong--small menus can work wonderfully, but there needs to be enough variety. Many options here are only differentiated by choice of meat. At the same time, I was disappointed that the aspect of the food served in cups was discontinued some time ago.
As a small establishment and definitely a hole-in-the-wall, the atmosphere was cozy: some Korean decor, stock in corners, some small TVs playing Korean channels. A respectable environment, but one that typically only pairs well with good food.
As a vegetarian, I know Korean cuisine is highlighted by meat. Still, the vegetarian offerings tasted oversaturated with sauce and certainly did not exemplify much of the foods' flavors.
I've read some previous reviews that excuse Cup Pop's shortcomings by saying how it is an outlier in offering Korean cuisine outside of Nashville. However, this uniqueness in status shouldn't excuse an...
Read moreI did not realize that I hadn't left a review for Cup Pop yet, and that is a crime!
Cup Pop is one of my favorite restaurants in Murfreesboro. Everything, literally everything, is delicious. There is not an item on their menu that I do not love. My favorite food, by far? Their Kimchi. It's perfect, seriously. I love good, fermented kimchi so much, and this is the place to get it. There have been more than a few nights when they had only one left, and I bought it for me instead of my husband.
Really though I absolutely adore the Auntie who runs the front counter. She's incredibly kind and always so cheerful. She remembers who I am (on the phone!), the foods I like best, and that I keep my own chopsticks at home. She and Cup Pop are just so wonderful, and I hope that they are here to stay for...
Read moreSimply amazing! I ordered the beef bulgogi spicy at a 2 and it was perfect. My husband got the combo spicy at a 2 and said it tasted better than when he was stationed in Korea. The food is so good and at this point I'm done with my quest to find good Chinese food, I'm just going to eat Cup Pop Korean when I feel like Asian food. The menu is simple and the restaurant is simple and clean. We ate inside and felt comfortable doing so. The owner is the sweetest lady ever and she seems to know all of her customers, she knew it was our first time. Which is crazy because my husband knew what he wanted and speaks a little Korean. We were very impressed! And score because the liquor store is...
