Read moreThis place guys, this place is the winner of all around great food. Seriously not a bad thing on the menu! In agreeance to what others have said - the outside. It is a bit of an eye sore. It does resemble the looks of being closed down or as if its be dusty, smelly, and rodent infested. I ASSURE you not at all is that the appearance of the inside!!! As it is very plain inside - (of course) minus the few really cool painting on the walls... The inside as to what the eye meets is clean. I previously tried Far East, take out, maybe twice -about 6 years ago; while in college at MTSU. The food was delicious then and here we are... Okay... Back to the food :) My girl wanted our favorite Thai spot and they were unfortunately closed. We embarked on Far East, which she drives past every day and doesn't notice. Lol. Which is highly odd because this gal LOVES her some Chinese and Thai food! We dine inside the restaurant. The service was pleasant. We were dining during a shift change so got to experience 2 individuals instead of 1, which is always nice. I started with an egg roll, my girl with spring rolls. We both agreed we like the spring rolls better. Being the first time back in a while for me and the very first time for my girl we did complain about the wait from ordering food to when it got to the table. However, after I took the first bite I would have been willing to wait longer! I of course ordered the Pad Thai I did a spice level of 3 this meal. It came out hot, hot, hot! :) nice spicy flavor, fresh sprouts, everything very fresh. My gal, seeking to fulfill her craving of some pho; ordered the chicken pho. Her response -- This is the best pho in Murfreesboro! There ya go if the gal says it, it must be true! I'm here to say I see myself and my girl utilizing the convienance and deliciousness of Far East much more...
I regret waiting 15 years between visits. Why didn't I come back? I have no idea, but the food we had tonight put this place on the keeper list!
We ordered way too much food because my partner is always concerned about dish size 🤣
Everything came out fresh and too hot to eat, so we'll set that as a baseline. We started with fried mushrooms and they were absolutely delicious. My partner said he could have eaten just a whole plate of those. I agreed. Next thing to come out was the cream cheese wontons. Thoughy partner loved them, I wasn't really a huge fan. They weren't bad or anything; they just weren't for me. The pork egg rolls came out with our meals, and they were some of the freshest and crispiest but thin skinned egg rolls I've had in a long time. At this point, our server joked about having to go find a chicken for our chicken wings. I appreciated the humor while also acknowledging the delay on them before we even asked about them. My partner said his lad nah was delicious. He ate everything. My Far East combination with noodles was wonderful. The noodles were surprising. Someone complained about them being ramen, but they're clearly not ramen when you taste them. Maybe the noodle type resembles ramen, but the flavor is unlike anything I've had in quite some time. They were delicious! The meat in the combination was tender and flavorful. The vegetables fresh and crisp. Our wings came out last, hot and crisp. The veggies on this plate are also crisp and delicious. The sauce has a touch of heat, so try a small amount first. I put a healthy amount on and ate every bit off the bone.
The leftovers I have probably weigh over two pounds 🤣 but I am so excited about eating them later.
It's no wonder Far East has been around...

Original: Under new management. Have been going to Far East for around a decade, and it was always in a different universe compared to other Asian restaurants. With the new owners, things have come back down to Earth a bit.
The General Tso chicken was always spectacular because it was extremely crunchy and fresh (I hate nothing more than soggy takeout chicken). Now, while there are still some crunchy pieces, the breading is definitely different (softer, sweeter, and puffier, almost like funnel cake, indicating probably too thick of a batter). The breading to chicken ratio was off on a lot of the pieces. Veggies have also returned to the dish, and I’m sorry, but no one wants warm, soggy broccoli with their chicken.
The egg rolls still taste about 90% the same, although pretty significantly reduced in size. The white rice we got was a over cooked and a bit soggy. The portion of rice we got was also about half of what they used to serve.
Despite all this, the meal was still pretty good, and better than many other Asian takeout in the area. However, the reduction in quality and portion size, alongside the nearly 20-25% increase in price, forces me to give this a low rating in hopes they take notice. This restaurant has been a staple of Murfreesboro for many years, and needs to be...
