This Schlotzly’s opened yesterday in the Boro so we knew it’d be busy, but nothing could have prepared us for this experience. Let me set the scene. My girlfriend and our friend arrived around 12:56PM and got in the drive thru line that wrapped around the building. We began to vibe, listening to Snoop Dogg’s Christmas album and talking about how pumped we were to try this new establishment. 10 minutes passed by and we moved one car. That’s okay, this is very new, of course they’re busy. Another 10 minutes passed and we made it to the turn to get to the back of the building (that’s where the drive thru speakers are, about 10 car lengths ahead) it was at this moment we realized we were trapped… the drive thru lane was not big enough to turn around or to get out of line and leave. We learned this by a woman trying to drive ahead of us only to realize she was trapped and back up with shame clearly on her face. This amused us, and cemented the fact that we’d stay committed and see this through. I put on Pillow Talking by Lil Dicky while we waited, occasionally rapping along with it. About 7 minutes in my girlfriend had had enough, so we changed it to thunderstruck. Anyway, fast forward to finally making it to the drive thru speaker. We had been in line for 40 minutes up until that point so angels began to sing as we rejoiced! The lady over the speaker was very nice but told us it’d be another 35 minutes before we’d get our food. This was disheartening, but we were here to stay, we were here for a purpose bigger than ourselves. We were committed. We ordered and continued inching forward, day dreaming about our food. During this time we discussed philosophy. We discussed the worlds problems and what might be the solutions and really took an introspective look at life as we waited in the Schlotzky’s drive thru. We were interrupted by a very nice employee walking around giving out bags of chips to apologize for the wait. We received one bag of chips for the three of us in the car, which we found quite funny and endearing. Later we witnessed an employee taking trash to the dumpster. This was equal parts entertaining and sad, as the bags were quite big, and she was quite small. It took many tries, but she was victorious in launching the bags into the giant dumpster after a few tries.
Anyway, we made it to the window after an hour and twenty minutes. Everyone in the window was incredibly nice and the food was very warm when they handed it to us. It tasted great later too! We’ll definitely be back.
It’s true what they say, it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. If you get the chance, I highly recommend waiting in that drive thru line. You learn a lot about yourself and...
Read moreFirst and last time here. Me and my kids were excited to try this place, we got here and there was a normal amount of people here we ordered our food and waited 25-30 minutes for our food, a bit long but it was okay. Finally we got our food it was okay but not as good as I remember but it was good, a bit bland. Before we started eating I went back to order a meal for my husband to go. After we finished eating we still waited another 35 minutes and it started to get very busy and many people were waiting for their food along with us. I then went to go check up on my order and asked a worker how much longer and he told me that my order was not even in their system yet and that it was still going to take a while longer. We had already been there for 55 minutes and I was not going to stay there another while to wait on the food so I asked him if I could cancel my order and he then told me it was going to take 2-3 business days for my refund. Overall we were very unhappy with the service and the wait. The food was...
Read moreMy wife and I went in to order and stood in line with one customer in front of us. The young curly headed girl working on the left side of the counter finished with the customer in front of us and turned and walked away. We watched and waited while she wiped off some tables, stools, and then went over and started wiping down the drink machine. She didn't say a word to either one of us and kept her back to us while we stood there waiting on service. A nice lady who came in after us was being served at the other register turned and apologized to us for being served first even though the young girls rudeness was no fault of hers. After a couple of minutes standing there without service, we walked out. I commented to my wife that I know she saw us waiting to order at which time the girl turned and looked at us with a smirk and went back to wiping the drink machine. This place won't las long If that is how other customers are treated, especially considering the cost of the food. We...
