Let me first say that they do have good food but you may want to read the rest of the story. The first time I came here I asked if they do a veterans discount and the girl said I think we give a free drink and she gave me a free sweet tea which was much appreciated. The next time I asked, the girl didn't know so she asked out loud to a few employees standing there and this one older lady spoke up and said and I quote " No, we have alot of veterans and if we did we couldn't afford to stay open". First of all, how much do any of you think a free tea or coke out of the fountain cost them. Like maybe 10 cents and secondly think about that contradictory statement. We have alot of them so we can't afford to discount. That should make them discount veterans more because they are giving them more business. These meals are already over 10 dollars without a drink and they can't afford according to her to give a free drink. Dont get me wrong. They have a right to discount or not as it's their business but don't lie and say you would have to close your place if you did. Thats what I have a...
Read moreOur service and atmosphere was really good, but the food I had was frozen or canned and just average at best. Not like the original restaurant of the same name that had been in Nashville, TN for so many years.
They were busy...perhaps that was why the food itself was just average.
Perhaps they are too busy turning food out that it can tend to be tough, flavorless and the catfish fishy tasting.

My fried okra was decent and my husband said his Country Fried Steak was "good", anything over "ok" in his book is close to excellent.
Portion sizes were good. The place just needs a little TLC and personal pride applied in the cooking department.
Even canned and frozen food can be made to taste home cooked vs dumped into a pan,...
Read moreNo matter what it is, it's always best in the least expected place at the least expected time! My first visit to Sylvan Park was this past Saturday (10/3/20). I partially had an idea of what to expect as Sylvan is a smaller restaurant but I was still in for a treat. I was seated promptly and introduced to my waitress Mickey. Mickey was a flat out joy! She made my day. So full of life and hilarious. Such a sweetheart. She took my order and the quaint conversation and jokes made the wait time (which was not long at all) seen almost non-existent. The food was amazing! It was everything you would expect from Grandma's kitchen. Fluffy eggs, fluffy pancakes/biscuits and perfect country ham/ bacon. The combination of southern food and hospitality made the entire experience worth while. I will, without a doubt, revisit and...
